  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Which Palio cutter?

Looking for opinions between the Palio original and the carbon fiber. In the photos, the carbon fiber looks pretty cool -- but I'm wondering how it really looks (if it looks like cheap plastic, I'll just buy the original).

Thanks,
- Greenhouse.

I've had the Black (gave it to a friend), Carbon Fiber (lost it at a golf course)...and currently have the Burlwood & Camo.

The Carbon Fiber was the one I thought "looked" the nicest of them all....and I assure you, it's not a cheap looking cutter. None of em' are...even the black.

Can't go wrong w/ a Palio IMO.

I love my Carbon Fiber Palio, I've had it for over a year and it still cuts like the day I bought it.

I think the faux carbon fiber cutter is too glossy. Looks more like someone poured resin over something wrapped in carbon fiber than it does a carbon fiber object.

Same blades and base plastic form in all the cutters, so you can't go wrong in those regards no matter which finish you choose.

I'm not a fan of fake carbon fiber, or even the real stuff for that matter. I went with the black, but if I did it again I'd probably go with the burl or camo just to have something a little different. Either way, it's a great cutter!

Go with the black. I have had all 3 and the wood and fake cf one all peal off. I have a real Xicar cf one that I love as well.

I've had my Burl Wood a year and a half and not one sign of peeling, of course I carry it in the leather case it came in too. I use it everyday.

I personally like the look of the black one. Mines showed up on Monday. However so far I'm disappointed. I've only cut 3 sticks since receiving it, and it's nowhere near as sharp or nice as I had originally thought.

Perhaps this will change with more use. But for now, I may suggest you handle one in person prior to purchase.

All cut the same, black is lower price and practical. Carbon fiber looks cool and high tech. Get the one you like or fits your personality best and you will be happy. Getting the Palio is a very good move.

Mudman - Your comments make me wonder about the Palio. One of their big selling points is supposed to be their super-sharp blades. I'll definitely have to get to a cigar shop to check it out in person before it gets on my Christmas list.

Anyone else find the Palio to not be sharp enough?
