I have two extra large Savoy humidors, and on some of the humidifiers, the sides and the bottom of the slats where moisture is inserted have whitened. It can't be mold because there is no nutrient for it to grow on.
I've tried gently scraping the white substance, but only 50% comes off.
The humidifiers have only been charged with distilled water.
Anybody know what's going on? Is this not a problem after all but simply a sign of use?
