Oh yeah. They also sign you up for their "Cigar Of The Month" club. Good luck contacting customer service to cancel. You can call and call til you are blue in the face...... They will not remove your debit card and will continue charging you and sending you cigars until you request a new card from your company and cancel the current one. Found this out the hard way when I was a newb a few years ago.

I've never had an issue with Thompson, I guess I'm lucky, since I've heard horror stories. As a matter of fact, after the buying freeze I plan to start ordering from them again and build up my points to get me some free stuff, like a box of Padron's yeah baby!

That’s when you get a hold of your banks fraud departments instead of turning blue in the face.

The real issue are mailing lists. Your address will forever be sold to a company over and over and over.

It’s probably th same people in India doing all the IRS fraud calls that offer them out to businesses

I’ve never had an issue with Thompson and I’ve almost exclusively ordered from them in the past. Your not going to find much boutique stuff at all but if your into AVO fuente Padron or anything DE you can get some stupid good deals. And shipping is pretty much always free.
I’ve never ordered from a catalog. I’ve always ordered from the website.

I have a post office box address for most mail, junk goes in their recycle bin, or the trash can at post office. Not a big deal.

Still getting mail for my dear old dad who died in 2014, his mail all goes in the trash can at post office.

Idea for you.

I've never had a problem with Thompson. Been ordering from them for a few years and haven't gotten anymore junk mail than from famous or CI. Never been signed up for any cigar or wine clubs. Big fan of their 5 pack fever

Think the big rub with Thompsen is their Club, it is hard to resign your membership. They want to keep you as a member. So just don't sign up for their automatic monthly membership, and you will be fine.

I have ordered 3 or 4 times from Thompsen, never had a problem with service, quality, or product. They Thompsen like every other company I asked to be on their e-mail list. Do send frequent e-mails with offering.

Most get read, most get trashed, but honeslty I like getting the e-mail specials during the week offing me deals on Cigars. I understand it is like watch TV, you just got to deal with commercial trying to sell you a new car, dish soap, insurance or some else you might need.

Cigars International and a few others send catalogues, most go in the recycle box at the post office.

I buy 95% of my Cigar from online retailers for a couple of simple reasons.

Price.

No Sales Tax.

No State Cigar Tax.

Free Shipping.

I get more Cigars for my buck on-line, many brands, sizes, and blends are not available locally.

Nuff Said.(y)

I've read accounts of exceptionally bad experiences with Thompson. Mostly it's people saying they were charged for club membership without permission, but a few have mentioned problems with the quality of the product. I've placed a couple of orders myself when there's something on their fivers page I want, and I've had none of these issues. I just check out as a guest to avoid any question about whether I might be joining a club. I will say they have some weird policies -- I've had to submit an ID both times, and both times they've left me a voicemail telling me that the law requires them to inform me that tobacco products are being shipped to my home.

I’ve never had a problem with Thompson other than the pressure I received from them in the form of telemarketing calls a few years back, asking me to join their dreaded cigar club. I told them to please stop calling me and they stopped. Problem solved.

As far as receiving catalogs, I get them from Famous, JR, Holt’s, Cigars International, Corona, Thompson, and several others. If receiving nuisance catalogs was reason enough for me stop buying from a certain retailer then I probably wouldn’t be buying much. Fortunately I have a recycling bin next to my desk for any extra junk mail I receive.
