Why is there a hole here?

Does it go all the way through? My first though is that is where a logo used to be, there are a few pipes floating around that have a carburetor designed into them, if you can suck air through it this might be the case. It’s also possible that someone tried to replace a logo and effed it up.

No, just one side. My thought also about a carburator of some sort The pipe is on Ebay so I can't do a draw test.

Looks like a factory drilled hole, well centered and perfectly round with no scuff marks.

It doesn't look right. I've never seen a stem like that before. I'd think it would mess up the draw.
