Wine Aeration

Guys,

I'm becoming somewhat of an amateur wine snob (as if cigars are not enough). I'm curious, do you use an aerator (either pour through on one that fits in the neck), or do you decant traditionally? Pros and cons of each? Necessary at all? Also, how the heck do you clean those decanters??? Haha!

I use an aerator. Have never bought an expensive enough wine to justify decanting. Definitely improves the taste to get a little air in there.

I use the Vinturi wine aerator to decant. It reduces the amount of time that a wine needs to be decanted. Depending on the wine and its age (and region and...), I can pour it immediately upon decanting or I might wait an additional 5-10 minutes maximum.
