I don’t know what to say. I’ve been pretty quiet over the last few months on account of kid but ‘someone’ still felt the need to school me on the brown stuff. I admit I’m intrigued and will follow the rules....for better or worse. Just dating ahead of time....I don’t like whisky so you are preaching to a hostile audience.

This tastes oaky, smooth, not too sweet. I’d think this is, in my untrained opinion, something fairly expensive closer to 100 proof. It’s hard not to like this

Well this is different. It’s.....how to say it. I feel like a toddler trying to tell someone something without the words to describe it. Frustrating to say the least. This tastes, versus the Eagle Rare, like it has spent less time in a barrel. Not as sweet, less oaky, more burn up front. Knowing it’s under 100 proof I’d still think it was north of 90. After I take a swig I feel like shaking my head and doing a signature Rick Flair ‘Wooooo!’. Is that a good thing?

What is it?

Another favorite of mine! Bottled in Bond is right at 100 proof

Interesting. Expecting heavy oak sweetness from the color but more of a tequilaesque alcohol taste dulled somewhat by the late arrival of the woodsy sweetness. Nope, nope, nevermind...the second sip has challenged the ‘dulled’ comment, it’s quite lively in fact. Kind of tastes like someone mixed the Eagle Rare and Bottled in Bond and turned the dial to 11. Certainly different than anything I’ve sampled previously. I like that the woodsiness isn’t dialed up with the proof, I feel like that would make it too much of a punch in the mouth.A26A29F9-F8D6-4F4F-A8EC-825E7A77D4EE.jpeg

This was not the kind of cool and smooth experience the Eagle was. This was spicy and up front with its profile. It had a surprising amount of oak flavor for the color. Knowing it’s under 100 with as, for lack of a better term....feisty it drank, I would think this to be a younger bourbon that is enjoyed by cowboys and lumberjacks the world over.3A9752FC-659C-4CD9-8301-48288E8E23ED.jpeg

I found this bottle to be a very good budget friendly pour that can easily be drank neat.
it's Bottled in Bond at 100 proof and a 1.75L can be found in my area for like $20

Delightfully spicy yet somewhat refined. The open is a bit strong and spicy but gives way to a somewhat sweet and cooling woodsy finish. This has a more pronounced sweetness than the eagle but makes me think of that when I sip this. I think I’d buy a bottle of that before this. This seems a bit too ‘flavorful’ for me. I think I prefer a bit less of a sweetness. I feel like I could only have one of these before it left me feeling weighed down.
