  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

I finally grabbed a travel humidor (sick of using bags) and I decided that I didn't like it.... So I changed it:

Started with:

Decided that the little cheap "humidifier" wasn't for me so I replaced the top foam piece with one from the insert:

Then decided that the Xikar logo wasn't for me either:

I made a little collage out for a few stickers from my extra boxes, then trimmed it to the size of the original logo:

Then I covered it with stink wrap plastic, heated it and made it into a solid graphic that wouldn't tear, or rub off. This is what I ended up with, and I love it:

thats pretty cool....

Ive got a 5 count herf-a-dor (the humi-care version of what youve got).. that I thought I would try to put some logos, stickers, etc.. on.. but hadnt figured out how I would get them to fit into the logo box, and then get them to stick without getting torn up or pulled off sooner or later..

explain the shrink wrap thing to me a little more..

you just wrapped them in common celophane and heated it?

and how did you actually affix it to the travel case once you had a finished home made sticker?

I filled the space with overlapping stickers, then trimmed around the space.

I then placed the plastic over the top, trimmed around it as well, then heated the entire thing to the case itself.

That sticker is awesome!

I made a modification to my herfador as well. I wanted to carry a lighter and a cutter in the case without them banging up the sticks or each other. Here's what I came up with, using pick-n-pluck foam from eBay:

It takes up exactly one layer in the herfador, so my 15ct still holds 10 sticks, or the one I use most, the 10ct still holds five.

lol... Im just about stupid enough to try it with some saranwrap :)

I was thinking about a little shrink wrap kit I saw at Hobby Lobby the last time the kitchen boss drug me there..

I figured you could enclose something with it.. but didnt realize when you heated it it would actually seal to an outside surface... (although it makes perfect sense that it would...)..

Very nice!
I did the same to my 5ct. I wish I'd have know about the plastic coating stuff. I used this stuff called mod-podge the wife got me from the craft store that you paint on. The plastic may be a bit easier just because you don't have to be as careful to not make a mess.
The lighter & cutter mold is brilliant! I'm definitely doing that to my 15ct. Thanks for the idea!

I mostly use mine for work. The sticks can be in there for a couple weeks before they get smoked so I put a lil cedar I there for the smell of it. The cedar also keeps the humi packs from being in direct contact with the cigars.
I can't wait to do the 15ct I have the way you did yours!
