  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Xikar Warranty Question

I had a question after going the cheap route with lighters (Ronson, Colibri ) I decided to get the slightly less cheaper route and pulled the trigger on a Xikar Executive II on cigar monster. I know the lighter will eventually poop out on me but when in does I am still able to use Xikar's life time warrant even though I didn't get it at full retail right? Another question I had since I've never had to send in my Xikar cutter, do I have to pay for shipping or is that covered under the warranty? Its not that big of a deal since shipping will be cheap but just wanted to know, I have heard that certain B&M's can exchange it for you but I don't want to fight an uphill battle.

Thanks:ccool:

You pay to ship it to Xikar, you don't need to send proof of purchase. Xikar only asks where and when you purchased it (probably not very important). They do not require a receipt, so just send it in.

The specific details for return are on their site under the "Warranty" heading.

Don't wanna sh*t in ur shampoo but the executive although looks great and I loved the side trigger ull soon find out it doesnt hold butane for more than 4 smokes. I learned that the hard way. the Xikar tech lighter is way more practical with a clear view of the tank or pretty much any other lighter in their line except for the executive. could be the reason u can steal it for under 20 from cbid.

side note: I just sent in my Xi cutter to be sharpened for the third time their service is great!

I hope urs proves that mine was just a dud

I also got the Executive II lighter on the Devil's Site and my experience is the same as Nas' in that after 4 or 5 cigars, there is just enough butane left in there to crap out halfway through lighting the next cigar. Oh well, I got it for $7. However, it was working fine for several refills but now it barely holds a flame when I have it turned up all the way. I followed the instructions from Xicar's web site (YouTube channel, actually) on how to refill it, yet I am still having problems. So, in for warranty it goes this weekend.

I've been a Xikar customer for years. They have never hassled me on a warranty claim when I didn't submit exact purchase info. I'd buy from them again with absolutely no concern.

In the case of purchasing your lighter and cutter, I can't stress how important sometimes it is to go the B&M for these needs. Reason being if it's not a limited piece, many b&ms will do the ground work for you and give you a replacement piece right there and then. Helps build a relationship with your local guy and works for everyone. Obviously ask before you buy on how things work, but that's what I found. I have the Tech and have just walked into my place and swapped it out twice already. Zero hassle. Just my 2 cents.

Only some shops will do that though and the "swap and go" is no longer Xikar's policy. But buying it from a B&M will definitely help increase the odds they will swap it out for you.

As others said, just fill out the online form, print it out, put it with your cutter/empty lighter in a Priority Mail padded envelope or small flat rate box (Xikar requires you send it with tracking) and mail it off. I just did this with a dull Xi8, and it was as easy as pie.

You can get a lot better fuel life if you keep the flame height down to around 1/2 inch. The giant flame isn't any hotter. Xikar retailers also have prepaid postage forms that Xikar provides, so asking them to send it in isn't really a hassle. Like it was said earlier most will just swap it out no problem.
Even though there are some great lighter brands out there, Xikar is still the head of the class in terms of service.

I just go to local B&M and they hand me a new. They take of the rest. That's where it's at!
