  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Just got a Zippo BLU2. Here's my quick review: it sucks! (n) This is basically just a single torch shoved into a traditional Zippo case (I was expecting it to have a traditional flame, not a jet). And it HATES the cold, refusing to light after five minutes at 40 degrees in my garage. Save yourself the scratch guys...for $44, you can get four or five cheap torch lighters and leave them laying around where you need them.

That is all.

or you can pay a little more and get a Dupont that will last :)

(or 11 Ronsons - cause I know some people like those)

I have 2 of the blu's and totally agree, they suck. The cases are bigger than a regular zippo and are junky made, thin tinny feel and look. They are very finicky as far as lighting and don't hold fuel very long.
With that said, I love the classic zippo and the zippo pile lighters.....

I just tried the zippo blue at the b&m and had a funny conversation with the counter lady on how its not as nice as a real zippo.

They really are just cheap lighter with the zippo brand name slappedon them imho

I am considering a soft flame insert for my classic zippo now. Where can we get these?

LOL. Love this review. Guess you didn't like it very much, huh?

It is all I use now. I tried a vintage Camel cigarette lighter that used Zippo fluid and a cheap torch. There really isn't any difference in taste between the torch and the Bic. Plus if the Bic dies or gets lost I'm out a dollar at the most.

The only downside is when trying to light in windy situations. In that case I just hop in the front seat of my car until everything is puffing along.
