Speeding Ticket in VA and Suspension of Driving

Hey guys,

Over the summer I was in Virginia on business and got tagged for speeding. 44 in a 30mph zone.

Since that time, I've been out of the country a bit and never paid the fine or contested the ticket, which results in a "conviction", a levy of a fine and suspension of driving privilege in Virginia.

I don't live in VA, I almost never go to VA, so should I even care if VA tells me I can't drive in their state?

Since then, I've received notices of a fine of $236.00 - which seems excessive, and a reinstatement of driving privilege of $145.

Do I even need to consider these?

"If your privilege to operate a motor vehicle in Virginia is suspended for any period of time, Virginia DMV will report the suspension to the state that issued your driver’s license. Most states honor suspensions from other states and will suspend licenses of their own citizens upon notification of an out of state suspension."

I imagine it could possible effect your insurance as well. Funny how not paying a $100 ticket could potentially cost you $375+

If you were ticketed for 44 in a 30, sounds like the officer actually gave you a little break by not going 15 over which I think brings it over to another price point. Most states share reciprocity with each other now so too late to say you should have paid the ticket or at least just sent it in to buy time. Pay the ticket and the fine to avoid it getting larger and/or you not being able to renew your reg/DL. If I'm not wrong, as long as you're not from the DC/MD/VA area, as long as you pay your speeding ticket, your insurance shouldn't be affected. G1

Not only is 15 over a higher price point, in VA I think it means a mandatory court appearance. Had a colleague who got pulled over for 20 over recently and this is what she said. She had to hire a lawyer to show up for her.

You would of known by now if your state revoked your license. I'm not exactly sure where you live, but VA does not report to every state. I know until recently they never reported to ohio. You might of been able to get a letter from the company you work for. And see if they will honor the original ticket fees.

I am teaching myself how to knit, and I have pretty much mastered the "casting on" part. Now for the next step, you're supposed to take the knitting needle that has the casting on stitches into your left hand (I'm right-handed) and take the other knitting needle in your right hand to start doing the work, correct?

What I'm confused about is, the needle with the casting on stitches, at the top part of those stitches, there's a bit of yarn left from the end, and I was wondering if that's supposed to be there, like if that's the end you're supposed to start building on? It just seems kind of backwards to me. Any help is appreciated!!

Yeah, what others said, it will eventually come back to your home state and you'll get suspended there. They have a reciprocel (sp?) agreement.

Lawyer up, deny everything and make counter-accusations. Maybe you were afraid the cop was coming on to you? Maybe not.

All jokes aside, sorry to hear about your performance award. I find that having a concealed carry permit for whatever state I'm in goes a long way to getting out of tickets. The average traffic cop would prefer to "go bust dopers" (in the words of some SWAT friends) than try to disarm someone with a background check (from the permit) who has no reason to mess with him.

Continental knitters hold the yarn in their left hand, which allows the knitter to simply scoop, or "pick", the yarn with the right needle. This has a reputation of being the fastest knitting method. One aspect contributing to the reputation of speed is an efficiency of movement between knit and purl stitches. For me, personally, it is definitely a more efficent method. Despite having learned as an English knitter originally, I couldn't resist Continental once I stumbled upon it.
