BHK 52. I don't think so. Not that it was a bad cigar, but there are ones I like better available for less.

had a pair of padron millenium, which were $25, and eleven years ago that was huge! probably wasted on me at that point, but i do still remember them, who gave them to me, and how they were enjoyed, so in a way yes. $50 for two great memories.

Bolivar Gold Medal probably was the most expensive. I rarely get to smoke so I always go the quality > quantity route but I also am pretty broke because of college so I almost never buy anything over $15. Was the Gold Metal worth it? Yes, it was the only time I will ever have had the opportunity to have one and it was on my cigar bucket list. Will I buy again? No way Jose. I am with Skitalets, I know of cigars in my price range that I will enjoy without breaking the bank and that's the route will continue to go. (With the exception of my birthday/special occasions)

Paid nearly $70 a few years ago for two CCs while traveling in Canada. I believe one was a Monte and the other a Cohiba Maduro 5.

They were either fake (doubtful) or kept in less-than-perfect condition, because both of them were like smoking dogsheet.

It would be my bday smoke, last year: the Padron Family Reserve 46. I think I paid about $28 or $32 for it. I can't remember for sure, now.

And, unfortunately, I would say it was NOT worth the money I spent on it. It was the single-most disappointing Padron I had ever smoked. It was a very loose draw, had burn issues, was rather hot burning, and not great flavor profile throughout. :disappoin

So far, $150 for a Forbidden X BBMF at Casa Fuente, paired with a Balvenie Vintage Cask.

This one in particular was worth it as I didn't have to pick up the tab. Generally speaking, cigars over about $35 or $40 just don't do it for me. They often fall in the "good to have had one" category, but not something I'd search out.

That said, I have a few in the $50+ range that are in my humi that I suspect have at least a reasonable chance of being "worth the money". I will know soon!

Even in Canada there are a lot of fakes. Earlier last year somebody posted a link about how Canada had a lot of fakes as well. I don't remember that statistic off the top of my head but it was pretty shocking.

I don't think expensive cigars are ever really worth it when you put it into a price/enjoyment ratio but I do enjoy them when I smoke them and that's really all that matters. I've paid premiums for the odd shaped Opus but they were just Opus for me.

I've smoked very expensive $50+ cigars that i wouldn't buy again and I've smoked $5 sticks that I thought were great. I don't know that the extra price we pay for something necessarily makes it taste any better, but It has been my experience with cigars in general that you get what you pay for related to construction and materials. At the end of the day the only one that can say if was worth it or not is you.

Perfect example is one of my all time favorite cigars. The Tatuaje Petite Cazadore Reserva and it is less than $4.

Just my opinion but I hope it helps.

What is the most expensive cigar you've smoked? Was it worth the money?

Do you mean recently i.e. past year or ever? I can remember some costly smokes back in the day. Habanos 1492, 1994, and like jj mentions, when the millennium came out in those humidors, I remember having to buy em a couple at a time being at $25 per and they didn't fly off the shelves for that reason. Were they good yes, twice as good as a Exclusivo? questionable. I think knowing if you're paying say even $25 for a cigar will affect its perception to a degree. If someone were to hand you an unbanded 1994, you'd think it was a good even great smoke depending on preference, but if told they're $250 per, you'd definitely think No Fing Way! . At the same time, if you received a banded 1994, in your mind, you'll already be telling yourself, this is going to be a great smoke.

I see this a lot in the restaurant with people and wine. People who love trends, will chase all the hard to get cult wines just for the sake of them being cult wines. I remember a couple coming in with a bottle of screaming eagle, the woman had no clue as to what it was and the guy trying to impress her was going through the whole story behind the wine. They drink it just beaming accolades on the wine. they sent a glass to the kitchen and when I tasted it, I immediately knew it was corked. That didn't enter either persons mind, only that it was a $1000 bottle of wine. To me, I wouldn't have even cooked with it lol. I did keep the bottle though just to have as that was the first time I had ever seen one to this day in person.

In short, smoke what you like and bummer if what you like is a $20+ smoke and at the same time great if its a sub $5 smoke. My favorites lie in the $9-12 range which is fine for me as a regular rotation smoke as I only smoke 3-4 a week. G1

+1 to Marty... Also my opinion.

I find myself saying things like, "this is $4, but smokes like a $10 stick" pretty regularly, as do I also hear it from others. Wouldn't mean anything if we didn't have that baseline in our minds about what a $4 or $10 cigar oughta be giving us.

this exactly. there is no such thing as money being no object. it is part of our perception, and certainly colors the experience of the hyperultrapremium smokes. that said, i see more $5-8's smoking like $10-15's every year, and am cool with that!

Personally paid for.....BBMF Maduro at $80. Not really worth it. It was a cool novelty size, but not significantly different than any other Opus from a flavor perspective.

I was gifted a Cohiba Gran Reserva and that cigar was simply out of this world.
