  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Hey fellas. Heading to Mexico on vacation and was wondering what the rules are on bringing cigars with me. Is there a limit to the number I can bring? I'm traveling with a larger group. 8 adults total and a slew of chilrens. Was hoping to fill my 40 ct travel humi. Would like to have a selection as I'm playing at least two rounds of golf and plan on having a cigar lit more often than not whilst hangin poolside and such. Any input is much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

The Mexican laws are 25 cigars per person. If you bring more than 25 cigars, give them to someone else in your group. Odds are they won't check you, but if they do, you will be paying high taxes on them.

If you buy cigars there which you should.. DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT buy cigars in a glass top box..(Do like i do and laugh in the vendors face say no bueno, I go to LCDH) But if you must buy cigars visit a LCDH for all your smoking needs!

Thanks! 25 per and I got 7 other adults with me. I'm good. What about lighters. I've got one of those Colibri TSA approved travel dealios. I also have a Djeep SnS soft flame lighter. I understand those types are the only ones allowed in there. Is that right? I've got plenty of cheapish single and triple flame jet lighters too. Not planning on bringing anything valuable but I'd prefer to bring two lighters as a backup. How about cutters? Will a cutter in the checkin luggage get pitched? Then there's the draw poker.... Lol. Just kidding. Appreciate the feedback.

I know all about the glass top boxes. Sitting out in the hot sun at the tourists traps. Drying out like yesterdays swimsuit... Ive been to Mexico before but have usually bought single smokes while there and not traveled with them. Not planning on buying while there but that could change in a hurry. Gonna be playing golf at the four seasons in Banderas Bay so I figure I can ask them for the shop they buy from or hit the LCDH, which is most likely what they use anyways.

According to the TSA website (and my local officers) jet flame lighters are 100% prohibited, Colibri transpack or not. Any soft flame butane lighters should be fine (you can have 2 for carry on). Gas fueled lighters like a Zippo need to go in the colibri and get checked.

For cutters you should be OK with check in luggage. What I generally do is carry a punch (for long layovers) and check the cutter. Recently I have carried a cutter on with me but have made sure it was a cheap one I did not mind having confiscated. So far it has not been an issue (6 flights) but I have not done this on a flight to/from Mexico yet so my recommendation is that your best bet would be to check the cutter.

i went last year and just put my cutter in my humidor and carried on. Never got checked or asked. I did bring some CC's back from a B&M i visited while there and never got stopped or asked a single questions there or in USA customs. Have Fun!
