I just recently smoked the Quesada Jalapa and I had heard quite of few good rating/reviews of this cigar and I was extremely underwhelmed. I loved the Espana and these are completely different cigars.

That got me thinking: what are some cigars that have been overhyped and almost universally loved that you just didn't understand why?

Tat Reserva SW Maduro. Everyone ranted and raved about the cigar and I just didn't see what all fuss was about.

Followed closely by the Don Carlos Lancero. Most overhyped, overpriced cigar I have ever smoked. Paid $30 for one and wasn't worth $3.

Totally agree on this one too. I loved the Espana's as well, but the Jalapa's just aren't doing it for me. I have a few more left from the box I bought & I'm gonna just let them sit for a long time before revisiting them....

Tat B-Rex and the Anarchy. Neither did it for me. :dunno: to each their own, I know plenty of people really loved 'em.

Mac I couldn't agree more about the DC lancero.

I would also throw in the 2008 Camacho liberty. Previous years they were great. Bunch of my friends ranted about those. I would rather lick the airport floor that I am sitting in than smoke one of those ever again.

Out of curiosity, what vitola did you smoke? I found the larger size to be not even close to the Beli...

Tat La Verite 2009. Tasted like smoke to me.

Also PLPC. I smoked a whole box hoping I would like the next one. But I know guys with similar palates to mine, and they love them.

I'll take every Quesada cigar they make...the Espana is very good...the Oktoberfest is about a half point behind...the Jalapa is as good as the Espana but it needs at least 6 months of rest...the Molotov is just as good but it needs rest as well. Overrated cigars are subjective to taste...what others don't like as in the case of some of the Quesadas....I'll take any day of the week.

Although I smoked a NC Partagas 150th that I thought was ok. Just had the same flavor all the way to the nub. Ok, but had the same coffee bean taste to the nub.

Viaje. Anything besides the DES and Holiday Blend from a couple of years ago I have found to be a huge let down.

I don't agree with that at all, but I guess that's why so many cigar makers make so many different kinds of cigars - because everyone's tastes are different!

Also, how do you know the Jalapa's will be better with 6 months of rest? They haven't even been out that long, have they?

I tried some Alec Bradley Seconds at a wedding. It seemed like everyone loved them, but I chucked it after about 30 minutes, it was like smoking fresh cut grass lol.
