  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

So one of my locals has a Nording briar block. Straight stem. I prefer the bent pipes but im considering picking this up. Have looked on ebay for blocks and this one is comparable in price and this one has a nording stem.

Any thoughts from u pipers out there?

I have carved 3 pipes out of a pre drilled briar block. I dont get to do it as frequently as I'd like but I do enjoy it and plan on making it a hobby. I'd say pick it up and give it a shot. If you need any advice or have questions PM me!

There should be some pics somewhere in the Pipe section of the one pipe I did.

There's a How It's Made episode that shows the carving/lathe/finishing process. It can be found on Netflix.
Yea the owner of my local told me about it. I think he said its Dunhill Pipes. Will look it up tonight. Thanx

I think is something I may give a try...
Sounds like fun, and I don't mind smoking the worlds most screwed up pipe, because I am sure that is the result I will end up with...

The only ones I've seen are the square blocks. I always thought it would be great to have a pro knock out the drilling & then take it from there. You should definitely post as many picks as possible:D

The place I order from has the option to get the block drilled. YOu can also pick if you want it equipped for a bent or straight stem. I get it with the bowl and shank pre drilled since I dont have the tools to do it myself.
