My new humidor just arrived and of course the hygrometer and humidifier are not attached to the lid yet, the hygrometer comes with a velcro and the humidifier with magnets. Both of them to be attached to the wood with peel-off stickers. I was just wondering if I should attach them now that the wood is super dry or should I wait till the humidor is seasoned; I don't want the glue to come off as soon as the humidity level rises. Thanks for your help!

Is it the standard analog hygrometer? If so, I wouldn't even bother sticking it on. Buy yourself an electronic hygro that can be adjusted. Those analog are terrible... You should also read up on humidifier options as most people prefer beads or boveda packs. What size humi?

But to answer your question, it shouldn't matter when you put it on.

Yeah when its seasoned it won't be dripping wet, the wood will still have the appearance of being dry for the most part. We are talking microscopic particles of water, so you can stick it on whenever.

That being said, like Aloha said, if its analog, it probably won't even work in the first place so you can save yourself trying to remove it by just placing the hygro on its back in the bottom until you are ready to get a digital.

It is a 50-count humidor. Thanks for the advice, I decided to leave the top empty for now and get a cedar boveda pack holder and an electronic hygro!

Nice!...just as a heads up the boveda can physically lay on top of your cigars and not hurt them at all, but those cedar pack holders are pretty cool regardless.

If it wouldn't damage the humidor, I'd say nail it on :squinteye As others have said, that analog is probably worthless anyway.

Since you already said you will get an electronic hygrometer, let me extend the life of this thread by at least one more post: Know what I really want?

A WiFi hygrometer that can sit inside my humidor and lets me check the RH inside the humidor from my smart phone or tablet.

That's what Boveda advertises, but from experience, you don't want that boveda touching your cigars if you can help it. When I did that, I had over-humidified cigars with burn issues.

I just got a 75-100 count humidor, and i'm going to season it with the boveda Seasoning Kit. My question is will one pack be enough or should i get 3 or 4 of them??
Don't waste your money. A new sponge on a plate soaked with distilled water will be everybit as effective, if not more so.

Agreed; and an app for such that will read all of my wifi hygros and display them in a no- frills way.

We can do it with CPU core temps, etc, why not hygros?

(I'll get to work on this)

;)

Not to be a Gloomy-Gus, but...

When I first got started, I would have been all over this. My Hygr-OCD had tapered off in the last five years. I think the demand isn't really there, which is why it hasn't been height to market.

ok cool! Should i leave the sponge in for 2 weeks or will that take less time??
Check it every 3-4 days, when it's steady over 70%, you're good to go.
Ok I put a sponge in my humidor last Sunday, checked it Wednesday and it was at 75% checked it today and it's still holding at 75 and the sponge is still pretty moist! Is it safe to say I can start storing my smokes?

I recently got heartfelt beads for my 50cts and love them for humidification. You can find a nice thread in humidor forum.
