  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Oh crap moment

Why do we share things like this online? All it does is allow people a peek at how dumb we (I) can be. Oh well.

Just got back from a Saturday morning breakfast with the wife. We were upstairs, I was sorting laundry (yes, real men do laundry) and she comes in and says "Do you know there's a pipe outside on the deck"

WHAT? It's raining, has been since last night off and on. An then I remembered. I have a bad habit of leaving the pipe outside for awhile to cool down before bringing it in. In this case, I left them all outside - in the 5 pipe leather case I bought to hold everything. (I only have 3 pipes though) One was out on the table however (the nording). I brought them in, got all the water out of the nording bowl, and preceded to my desk. I took the stems off and ran several pipe cleaners through them as well as the bowl. I got paper towels and wiped the bowls out the best I could. They look no worse for the wear but I'll be leaving them out for a few days. The leather case is soaked. I've gotten as much water out of it as I can. I'll just let it dry naturally.

Guess it's cigars for me for a few days.

Shit happens. Thankfully everything seems to be alright!

The only thing I think you may have to worry about is that the water softened the cake. It it seem flakey you will probably need to ream the bowl. I had a new pipe fall out of my mouth on to my concrete floor while standing . It bounced across the floor shooting out sparks and ash like a off target firework. I pictured a broken bowl or snapped stem, except for some road rash all was ok.

So, did everything turn out ok?

I live my pipe outside overnight all the time. but luckily, I live in the Southwest Arizona desert, so rain isnt too much of an issue.

Yes pipes are OK. Took them to the expert at the b&m I help out at. He said they were fine.

As yo 240' s I found a 73 in NC for 4500 or no. Its an automatic though but a double weber conversion has been done. If I had the cash I'd be giving it a serious look.
