I imagine this is to keep your sticks cool so they don't hatch? I imagine it wouldn't get cold enough to kill the eggs?

BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE
Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

What the dry ice will do is add C02 and remove ALL the oxygen from the environment. I do this to my Grain Bins at my store when we add a new bag to the corn bin. Corn is notorious for having bugs in them from the maltster. So I just blast it with CO2 put on the air tight lid and never any bugs anymore. So I am wondering if a quick 24 hour rest in a oxygen void environment is just something I should do to all sticks when they come in. I think I am going to get to building! I would HATE to see my stash decimated by a bug!

What will the CO2 do to eggs? Freezing the cigars in a conventional freezer for 3-4 days destroys the eggs, right?

I've always used a deep freezer. I believe you have to get to below zero temperatures to break the eggs. Most conventional freezers don't get that cold. My system when I think there is any chance of possible beetles is 48 hrs in the deep freeze, 24 in the conventional freezer, 24 in fridge, 24 out, then into the humidor. All in double ziplock freezer bags.
This.... I freeze anything that doesn't come from a major factory that I know freezes....
Had this happen about 4 months ago. My mistake was I didn't check the Humidor for some time and sadly it was disaster for 40 sticks. The good thing is they were only Gurkha and not the Padrons, Or the Oliva v07 smoking my last V now. My fav shape is the Figurado and Belicoso. Sorry for the loss it is a twister when it happens. Thought it would never happen to me.
