I bought a Non Canta La Raganella Prima Bulldog on ebay for a little over $10. I have no idea how this type of damage could happen, but it had some largish chunks broken out of the stem. Of course I forgot to take some before pictures before I started work, but here is one of the pics from the original ebay post that best shows the damage to the stem.
The pipe is nothing special and has some noticeable fills so I just wanted to make it smokeable. I mixed up some JB Weld, filled the missing areas on the stem, and then sanded after it was dry. I need to get some finer sand paper to complete %100 but here is more or less the end result of the repair.
While it's not pretty, it is functional and is quite comfortable to smoke. I'm breaking it in right now with some PA.
