So I was down in Lakeland at Edwards Pipe and Tobacco visiting Russ and a few guys from pipe club and I was presented this.
Cardinal House is a new Edwards Lakeland Exclusive. They are being made by a world renowned pipe maker who has never offered seconds. This pipe in particular was set to be a 5-600 pipe before a very small blemish was found in the bowl, which was so negligible that I couldn't see it until I used a light and it was pointed out to me which will never impact performance and will be covered with cake soon. What does this mean? I paid about 100 bucks for what I consider to be the finest pipe I own.
I can't disclose the maker to protect the fidelity of his brand. He stated flat out that he will deny making these to his death bed and considering his pipes range from 500-2k+, I don't begrudge him his privacy. How do they smoke? Well, this particular example is the first Cardinal House offered for sale. The draw is so effortless it puts every other pipe I own to shame.
These will all be unique as they are quite literally pipes he is in the process of making until he finds a reason why he wouldn't want to sell it under his brand. They will be limited to 2-3 a month, and will only be available through Russ at Edwards. I'm not posting contact info or other details due to the fact that Russ is waiting until the new year to become a site sponsor. Once that happens I'm sure more information will be made publicly available, but I couldn't wait to show this off because I never thought I'd be able to afford a pipe of this quality.
