Storing Samples

Brothers (and any lurking sisters)...

Through the ass-hattery here (oops, I mean generosity) I have dozens of bags of samples with 1 ounce or so of various pipe tobaccos that I am eager to smoke but will take time to get to.

Two questions - how long will those samples stay in good smoking conditions if I leave them in the baggies they were sent in and what's a good long-term (or medium-term of about 4-6 months) storage method for such a small amount. At least when I crack open a tin, I have a mason jar to store the remainder in.

I store samples in ziplock bags inside a Tupperware container. Works well for me

I keep all my smaller bags inside a large zip lock bag so they aren't all over the place an they are keeping very well that way.

Thanks guys. I've been keeping them in large Ziploc bags as well. Good to know that they should stay that way.

Small ziplock in larger Mason jars. I also make sure to be mindful of any aros not being in with traditional blends despite them being in bags.

Same here. I split them into three basic types. Virginia(ish), English(ish), and Aromatic

Coincidentally, I have the same container for my aro samples, Dave - even got it at Wally World! My English blends are in another Ziploc and my Virginias are in another (same as Justin does).

Okay, good to know. I was going through them today... alright, alright, I was opening them up just to smell them (I know you all do it, too, so don't judge) and realized that I have a lot of samples and a lot of GREAT samples and I didn't want any to go stale before I had a chance to smoke them. Sounds like I am doing it right. Or, at least, the same as the rest of you and, in that case, we're all fucked!

i keep some in just baggies and if I feel it will take some time to gett to said samples i jar with like kind as well.Because i smoke a lot they tend to smoke before they dry out. I have enough tobacco to last the next 2 months even longer with my rotation of PA.March 15th at the pace i smoke if I dont replace as i go.a tub of PA every 2 weeks Just picked up the last tub they had stocked at Wally world today for 4 + 6 days
