  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Use Djeep disposables. They work for both cigars and pipes. Cheap. Reliable. They're the perfect shape for lighting pipes in that the flame is further away from the thumb than with a Bic #therevapproved.

Those IM's are great lighters. If you are partial to them, I say grab one.

I didn't want to spend too much money on piping (ha) until I was sure I was going to enjoy it, so I used Bics until I got my Zippo.

Now that I have my Zippo, I don't feel I need anything else. I love the feel of the lighter and their new fuel doesn't leave enough of an aftertaste to bother me. More importantly, with the flame going down, I no longer char the edges of my bowl as I once did with my Bics.

And that's the key - not charring the bowl. The IM's will do a fine job of not doing that - as will matches. But I -you might be inclined to feel cooler using the IM. :).

I am sure you'll love your new IM ... I am sure you'll be getting one too lol!!

Xikar's Pipeline lighter has been excellent for me, and I love the built-in tamper.
This is one of Xikars lighters I picked up for $5 . Shop owner had this behind the counter, asked him how much he said it's broken .. I said I'll still buy it. He was like give me $5... Guess he didn't know about Xikars lifetime warranty lol

I have a Zippo pipe lighter and it's an essential tool for me. Biggest draw back is that if you don't use it too often, you'll still be refilling it as the fluid can evaporate. But for actual lighting, I really like it. And, as SeaGar points out, no charred rims.

My go to pipe lighter is my xikar pipeline , Seems like butane last forever in there. When I'm not using the xikar I use a zippo pipe insert, Only down side is seems to dry out pretty quickly.
