With acknowledgment to @04EDGE40 , who came up with the idea. I liked it so much I just had to give it a go. The only twist was that I wanted a cigar band on both sides of the lighter. That was a difficult hurdle, because it is hard to line up the two bands on the edges and create a smooth seam. Apologies to @SurpriseMVP , I sent him my 3rd attempt and after seeing it close up on the computer screen...well, frankly, it looked like shit. So If you see this post Mike, this new attempt is for you if you are interested. Just PM me.
I enjoy the process, so if any of the brothers out there is interested in a custom Ronson of your own, PM me and we can discuss it.

Nice work brother, I'm digging the color/band combo! I'm sure I wasn't the first to ever do it, but thanks for the shout out! (y)
Just out of curiosity. When you took the Ronson apart, did you have any trouble getting the lid spring and pin back in place? I find that to be a bitch to put back together.

Oh yeah, that's definitely the hardest part of the reassembly. I put the pin in first (that holds the "hook" in place), then put the spring on it and use my fingernail to pull the spring up and push it into place. I've done enough now that I've sort of figured out the technique, but I've lost a few springs in the process too ha.

I gave that technique a try but my fingernail was too short. I'll try it again. That's funny about the spring, I've shot a couple across the room myself.

I've probably lost enough components to build a Ronson from scratch :D

I've started to reconstruct the small parts with my hands and the lighter in a gallon sized Ziploc so that I don't lose parts. I haven't lost anything since then, so it seems to be working! I just picked up a new Ronson the other day, now I need to start thinking of what I want to do with it...

Pictures when you decide and finish your project please.
