Pipe better with wine or scotch?

Just starting with the pipe. Trying wine tonight. Will try scotch tomorrow. I prefer scotch with cigars. Suggestions brothers and sisters?

I prefer scotch. But a nice Port will do in a pinch. If I HAVE to I'll drink bourbon. (When there's no scotch or port)

I've heard coffee goes well with a pipe. Never done it before though. I've had bourbon or a beer so far and it was alright.

Best best is trial and error. You might find something that works for you and not for others. To each their own. But keep us posted on what you find more enjoyable....

There's always scotch available here. All single malt aged 12 to 30 years. Thanks for the tips.

I think it totally depends on the kind of tobacco. Scotch with VA or VA/Per, wine with most aros, either with Latakias. That's my preference, anyway, but coffee works with everything.

I say a pipe is better with tobacco. I wouldn't put scotch or wine in it.

Depending on tobacco, I have enjoyed coffee, rhum, whiskey, Port, scotch.

I feel beer doesn't pair well with most.

I liked early morning smoke with coffee. I should get more of it, it's always good.

I am going to try a whisky tobacco blend with a glass of Macallan 12 tonight and see what happens. Then tomorrow try a early morning smoke with coffee. Thanks for all the advice fellas.

Update: that scotch was too strong for the smoke. Couldn't taste the pipe tobacco at all. I think the drink fried my taste buds

After a serious consideration I've decided that wine and scotch are better.

You gotta have both in your life.

I love scotch but don't tend to pair it with cigars or pipes much because the Islay malts I prefer tend to overwhelm the tobacco.
Bourbon works better for me.
