  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Suggest some burleys

Hey guys, I'm expanding my pipe experience and am going to first ask for some burley recommendations.

A little about me, I dabbled in pipes on and off for about five years. Nothing too crazy, but I somewhat liked Englishes, swore off perique (didn't give it a good chance), and only smoked an occasional bowl of a Virginia like Hal o the wynd. Since I wanted a change of pace from cigars, I went full speed into only aros. Say what you want, but I do enjoy aros, but the times they are a changing.

Now, I've gone from one or two pipes a week to about 2-4 a day so my palate is diffenetely changing.

Through the last pipe pass, I really really enjoyed haunted bookshop and crooner. Now, before I give periques and Virginias another go, I want some additional burley blends, where the burley is near the top of the blend, and after that I'm going to give Virginias another chance.

I recently picked up an ounce of billy bud, big and burley, and another c & d that slips my mind.

One other thing, would you guys agree with me that it can take several bowls of something to form a good opinion? I didn't like haunted bookshop on the first bowl, but after the third bowl, I really got into it.

I'm not a burley fan, but I've also heard the Solani recommended a few times. Also Hearth & Home Classic Burley Cake, Vincent Manile Semois, and Esoterica Tilbury. On another forum I was told that if you try these and don't like them, you really don't like burley so I guess they're like the gold standard.

Solani Aged Burley flake
All of the old drugstore tobaccos...Prince Albert, Carter Hall and Sir Walter Raleigh are pretty darn good. Give them a shot in a cob. You may really be surprised.
GLP's Barbary Coast...lightly cased, a bit hard to keep lit. It helps to pack it loose. Outstanding flavor and room note.
