So, I just got a good size shipment of smokes in that UPS just delivered. Its mid 90's, and I'm one of the last stops for the brown Santa. I take the smokes out of the boxes, and they feel like they came out of an oven. Gonna freeze them just to be safe.
What is a generally accepted length of time to freeze? 24 hrs, 48, a week?

I used to use the fridge as an intermediary step coming out of the freezer. Then I got lazy and just went from freezer to winador. I've done this many times now with no problems. Maybe I'm just both lazy and lucky.
I always go a minimum 4 days in the freezer for all cigars before they are allowed into my winador. Sometimes it's a lot more than 4 days when I forget about them.

I know of some that do both. I could be mistaken so don’t take this as truth but I thought I read where NC sticks get the deep freeze before going out into the market.

I think your biggest concern should be cigars you get from your B&M and your friends. Properly freezing doesn't hurt anything and it doesn't seem to be that inconvenient for most people, so freeze away.

But most importantly keep an eye on your cigars, inspecting for mold and beetle damage is probably your best bet. If you find something wrong you can address it and prevent the damage getting out of control. Most of the stuff I read suggests inspecting every month or two. Do yourself a favor and don't fill a 1500 count coolidor with new cigars and then forget about it.

So yea, I caved on the freezing. 24 hours was all I did. After reading up on the subject a little more, I decided to put them in the wineador. I didnt have any ziplock bags, so I just shoved the box in the freezer. Then got nervous about the wrappers splitting not being in an airtight container. There is quite a bit of debate as to whether home freezers even get cold enough to kill the eggs. I'll keep a good eye on them.
I keep my stash at 65/65.
It doesn't hurt anything to freeze, that's for sure. I'll keep some gallon bags on hand for all future purchases.

I decided to freeze when I got my wineador and wasn't going to use the cooling. Since I don't have a large freezer, I put the cigars in 1 gal. freezer bags, then into a pull string trash bag, stuffed that into a banana box and rented a meat/locker/freezer at a local meat shop. It was $5/month. 5 days later I went and picked it up and placed the trash bag into an ice cooler for 24 hours to let them return to temp slowly and then removed then and put them into the wineador. That was almost 3 years ago and have had zero problems. All new cigars get freezer treatment before going into general population. It's simple and gives me peace of mind.
