With all the pain and suffering in the world, I have decided that I can not listen to any more gangsta rap for a while. I need to focus my attention on positivity and spirituality, and be a part of the greater good. So, goodbye Freddie Gibbs, ScHoolboy Q etc etc etc, hello KRS-ONE and Attested Development etc etc etc.
Ever listen to some of the more indie hip hop? There is some good positive rap I've been into lately: Eyedea & Abilities, People Under the Stairs, Brother Ali, Murs, Doom, Aesop Rock, Run the Jewels... there's some good stuff out there!

I'm a hip hop head from way back. Only very recently, as a middle-aged white father and husband, have I been to appreciate the value of gangsta shit. But yes, I am aware of the vast and diverse hip hop landscape.

Hahaha nice! It's funny, I listened to Wu Tang, Mob Deep, Warren G, all the gangsta stuff from the 90's back in the day, but didn't really listen to any rap for years. Now I'm in my 30's and have really gotten into indie hip hop lol. My wife thinks it's some kind of a mid life crisis...

Van Morrison - September 28, 1986 - Rotterdam, NL
Very good audience recording and performance during his “spiritual” years.

Mix CD called “Just the Music”

Inspired by the “Golden Age of Underground Radio featuring Tom Donahue”, this has artists mostly from the West Coast, including Quicksilver Messenger Service, the Steve Miller Band and Little Feat. Also threw in some James Gang, Joe Walsh and Youngbloods. Interspersed between groups are ads or announcements by Donahue to give the effect of listening to one of his shows.

My musical tastes are eclectic to say the least.
I am a huge fan of TOOL, Pink Floyd, Rage Against the Machine, Deftones, Clint Mansell, Johnny Winter, Nathaniel Ratliff and the Night Sweats, and lately even though I detest Country for the most part, I've loved me some Chris Stapleton.

Right now, cause its Monday this is what I listened to on my way to work:

SRV - August 26, 1990 - Alpine Valley Music Theater, East Troy, WI
Finally got the nerve to decode the flac files and burn this to disc. Was always painful to know that this would be his very last full performance and always put off listening to his set. SRV later jammed with Eric Clapton, Buddy Guy, Robert Cray and Jimmie Vaughan on "Sweet Home Chicago".

Weather Report - The Legendary Live Tapes 1978-1981
Missed my only chance to see them in July 1978 but Little Feat was playing that same night. Jaco came up afterwards and sat in on “Teenage Nervous Breakdown”.

Eric Clapton - Latin Blood - Oct. 3, 1990 - Stadio Centenario, Montevideo, URU
After burning some discs for a CBid Brother, got the urge to get back into converting and burning "new" shows.
Always considered 1990 as a good year for EC.
