Any random new magazine. We would get 3-4 month old magazines in Afghanistan and even those out of date ones were great to read during down time.

We got a bunch of shit in Care Packages but never enough magazines
My wife and I send CARE packages out once a month.....we have been doing this for years and from our experience ....magazines are a high priority so we send a few with other personal items....deoderant shaving gels/foam...candy...slim jims....and of course...CIGARS!

I dunno Gary

I never got one from you when I was there in 2013

:(

That was probably when you weren’t so grumpy too :)

Good on ya brother!! The road to hell is paved with good intentions, and this is my first direct send, although I've donated items to a few drives before. I can tell you that small box makes a huge impact on the soldier(s) receiving them! I knew that whole asshole thing was just a front.

I just showed this thread to my wife and she was brought to tears at the generosity of the board. She said that every mother of a soldier would be touched in the same way.
The stashes put together by Dran and Fisherclive are simply astounding.
Makes us all proud.

I have been pretty much a BOTL lurker, but I came out of my hole for this noble effort.
Mailed off a few dozen smokes yesterday with New Year greetings, including a stock of foil pack ACID cigarillos which I'm hoping would taste real good out in the desert! Hey, that's what I'd probably be smoking if I were 20 again...

Just a heads up guys, USPS only allows 10oz of tobacco products to be sent APO.
Average robusto weights about 14g and there's 28g per oz. So we can only send approximately 18-20 cigars if you fill out the declaration honestly

When sending to my SIL in Kuwait I include a bunch of those little packets of condiments you get with carryout. Mayonnaise, mustard, Taco Bell sauces, Arby's Horsey Sauce, Parmesan cheese, red pepper flakes, soy sauce etc. He said they like having them. And they are free!
