I'm confused. Book 5 of the Dark Tower is the Wolves of the Calla, and is not a flashback. Book 4 is Wizard and Glass, which was the story of Roland's past adventures as a young boy, and was the best book in the series IMO.
Don't they go into the past in New York in Book 5? or Eddie and Jake do?

I thoroughly enjoyed the story of Roland in the past with his gunslinger friends, I wish SK had done an entire series like that. I'm surprised you weren't a fan
Again i'm weird, I don't care for flashbacks, Start the story from the beginning and end it, don't pull me out of the current situation.......it's a turn off

Alright guys, I picked up Band of Brothers yesterday, and only have about 50 pages left. Weather here is cold and windy. Not much else to do but read. Great book.
Looking for another book, militarily themed. Have read ,,Lone Survivor, American sniper, and Marine sniper( my favorite military book)several times, along with several vietnam era sniper, and LRRPs books. Have also read a good sniper book from the Iraq war, but the name escapes me. What are some recommendations for similar books?
I thought these great reads. To be honest, reading We Were One was was the reason why I chose to join the Marine Corps Infantry.

Finished Band of Brothers, and read The Old Man and the Sea again tonight. Not sure I'd want to read any more of Hemingway's work though. Not a very fluid read, to me at least. Tolkien's writing is much the same for me. Not a bad story at all, just not my style of writing.

I find those kinds if authors I need to be able to have long reading sessions for. I have a hard time picking up and remembering well where the story left and started again.

Found some books on my Google Book app that I didn't know I bought. Read John Grisham's "Camino Island" last night,
and starting Dean Koontz's "Watchers" tonight.

I'm 150 pages in, and it's hard to put down. I've read his Odd Thomas series as well. His writing style, and narration is easy for me to stay engrossed in the story
The Odd Thomas series is on my tablet, just haven't got to it yet. My 1st Koontz book was Intensity, and that book really hooked me on Koontz. I will say I was expecting his other books to be as terrifying as that one, but I was let down with that assumption. but I still enjoy his writing, and he is one of my fav authors.

Watchers is supposed to be like Koontz's Opus, I haven't read it yet, but people swear by it.
Just finished Watchers: Two words: badass book! If you're a fan of Koontz, and are a dog lover, it's a must read.
Just looked at B&N's website, and Odd Thomas didn't stop at the 4th book, so I've got to finish that series before I start a new book. (Unbenounced to me, there is 4 more books in the series)
