What’s up brothers. My wife has been running a weight contest like you guys are talking about for four years now with all the women in our neighborhood. She said she would be willing to organize one for you if we get enough guys willing to participate. It’s based on percentage of weight lost to keep it fair to everyone. She does 16 week contests with weigh ins every two weeks. She’ll create a spreadsheet and once everyone weighs in for that week, she’ll update it and I’ll post it on this thread. The 5er idea sounds like a good one, I mean we’re all about cigars right? If we started on a Friday, you would have from Friday until Sunday morning to show a pic of your weight, and I’ll post them by Sunday night. That would be every two weeks. This would pretty much be on an honor system guys since you would be posting pics yourself. Just be sure to use the same scale every time during the contest. If enough of you are interested we can get this going.

I'm in. I would also say to make words or codes to post by the scale when you submit your numbers. This way every week it's different, and you don't know what name or code is coming up. Will keep everyone honest.

A good idea there. We can always assign everyone a number. You would PM me your pic, with the code word, then when I get everyone’s pic, I’d post the updated spreadsheet. You just look for your number. That way no one knows who you are unless you want them to, but you can see how you’re doing compared to everyone else. Of course, in the end, everyone would know who the winners are.

Nice! How'd you do it Nathan?
Keto! Low low carbs, low low sugar. After my diagnosis of celiac and complex carbs intolerance, it was less of a choice and more of 'well, this is my life now' kind of thing. But I've never felt better, and I'm going to try to start getting back in shape soon now that a lot of my weight is off.

Nice! There's several of us doing keto right now. The health benefits are amazing. No heartburn, low hunger, arthritis reduction, blood sugar reduction and stability, vast energy improvement...
Get at it man! You'll be glad you did. There's so much you can do with calisthenics and bodyweightfitness, anytime, anywhere. Ton of great vids on YouTube. I'm loving it, and gaining strength rapidly.

For me, it was having some routine bloodwork come back as prediabetic. Similar to your situation, I figured it would be better to change my diet than go on one, so I had a consult with the nutritional medicine clinic on base. My basic plan is from the MyPlate.gov website: pretty much the classic nutrition concept of a varied diet comprising the basic food groups, in sensible portions. I’ve also looked for opportunities to limit my sugar intake. The weight started coming off without going hungry or feeling deprived of much.

As of this morning, I came in at 179.6, so that makes -40 since the July/August timeframe. Woot! I should be on track to lose up to 5 more before my rheumatology appointment on the 20th. That’ll be sweet. When we were discussing my weight loss I mentioned maybe getting down to 180 and she said, “Don’t get your hopes up.” Bitch. I’ll show you.

New job and the 3.5 hours of commuting have cut my time on this board. I’m down to 266 from 351 and ready to hit the zip lines in Costa Rica in March.
I love carrying in two 40 pound bags of salt thinking, man I’ve lost 5 pounds more than this load.

I wondered. Forgot about the new commute. Congrats, that's great!

I get what you're saying. I was holding 25 lbs the other day thinking, damn, I was carrying this around all the time..

If you have any advice, tips or recipes, I'd love to hear them in the keto thread.
