Hey guys. Sorry I haven’t been around much. We’ve had a lot of things going on besides the construction we’re doing here. I have a question. Twice now I’ve had a H Upmann Vintage Cameroon Belicoso and both times I would have to draw on it 3-4 times before getting any decent amount of smoke and if I let it sit more than a minute or two it would almost go out. It also did not burn very evenly and kept canoeing. I store my sticks at 65 % RH so I don’t think they’re overly humidified. What do you think is causing it? I bought these in a 5’er. Is it possible I just got some not so great sticks.

Don't know about the first part except maybe it's time to check your hygrometer. But I have some "canoe" info ...
I noticed a lot of my smokes were canoeing years ago. Always with the topside ( label ) . It was then, I realized that I stored every single cigar in my winador "label up" .
Now I spin the "not so active" smokes over from time to time and that problem resolved. Take note if it's always "the tops" canoeing out.
I told a guy about this at a smoke lounge and about 2 months later I saw him again and he told me it worked for him. So I think there's something to it .

My guess would just be crappy construction/quality

Interesting idea, I'm gonna have to try this. My smokes tend to canoe, but I'm consistent at 65%.

I second on calibration of your hygrometers. Even maybe put it where those particular canoeing sticks were in your set up. Don’t know your set up. That info might help diagnose.
I will say that sometimes you just get a couple of crappy bunched ones.

how long do you think it takes to acclimate a cigar to 65% RH ?
keep in mind it could be very moist right from the box........

A practice I got into from the beginning is letting any new cigars I get rest for a minimum of 30 days to acclimate or begin to acclimate to my preferred conditions. These have been in my wineador since July of last month. I feel pretty confident that my hygrometers are accurate as they are within 1% of one another. I have been talking to some other people that have experienced similar situation wit Upmanns. I think I may have just gotten some bad ones.
