My new humidor came in yesterday and I have been letting it season. I am wondering how everyone organizes their wooden humidors that are multi level. Best sticks on top, best sticks on bottom? By size, by brand? By color?

I have the same humi - looking back, I’m not sure if I can’t believe that I ever thought that would be big enough, or if I can’t believe that I’ve developed such an obsession that said humi is no longer big enough to house the bulk of my collection.

That said, my method of organization is loosely based on the Tetris method - where I’m “organizing” by fit, but instead of carefully stacking boxes to maximize my storage space, I usually just cram shit wherever it fits

I think it will be large enough for maybe a year before I have to get a second one or third one lol. I like the idea of my favorite brand having one humidor, maybe cc having one, and an assortment. Idk that is a long way off as it will be a while till I get into cc or start buying boxes.

I think it would be easier and more practical to store at the bottom the items that you want them to age for some time, as they are less accessible.

But keep a record on your phone or laptop with what you have and when you bought them.
Enjoy the puff!

IMHO

The spreadsheet/tally method is only worth it if your keeping stuff by the box(es) and you aren’t able to keep tabs due to volume/shortage method. Or if you’re keeping tabs on CC’s/factory codes and you want to know what you have without taking everything out.

If your planning on aging singles, stick them on the bottom and build up from there. But be warned I started with that thought 12 years ago when I only wanted to keep 100 sticks at a time, and taking everything out to reach a certain stick is a pain in the ass.

Throw your sticks in and pull out whatever you can reach to smoke

I am using an app to keep track. So far what I am doing is my 5 packs are on bottom and individual sticks are on top.

Are you happy with the app you are using?
I used to work on "Cigar Geeks"; but it is now banned over Apple Store.

Or let me say: what Apple App are you using to record/monitor your stored Cigars?

I couldn't have nailed it better. That's me as well.
This....once you break the 1500 - 2000 mark organizing is no longer a necessity. Optimizing space becomes more important...... lol ;)

I agree with the "where it fits best". I bought my 1st wood 100ct humidor and shortly later I have 7 and I'm constantly re-organizing to make better use of my space and rotate my stock.
