So, our numbers here in AR have really just started taking off. I'm not surprised as the last week the road to work has been crowded with non-essential (filthy buggers) traffic. 1200 cases a week ago, and now nearly 3k, as the natives grew restless and started ignoring the stay at home advisement, to go walk around the towns and cities filled with closed bussinesses. Then tonight, someone got sent home to quarentine, after advising supervision at the END of shift brief, they have been in contact with a known carriers, knowing they would be sent home. Instead of just phoning in that they would be quarintining. Laughable how stupid people remain to how this works, and how to not spread it.

I find scary how some people post online confrontual text about how we should not believe the medias about this pandemic.

I mean, some people seriously believe its a huge conspiracy and we're idiot to follow the government's advices.

You know what's really pleasant is having seasonal allergies with the runny nose, post nasal drip, lungs full of gunk and then wearing an N95 mask while loading lumber at Home Depot. Almost passed out right there in the lumber aisle.

I find it scary how some people blindly follow whatever the mainstream media tells them. And I don't mean this as a slam on you @herfdog , but most, if not all of the big players are owned by a handful of companies. Makes it pretty easy to push an agenda to folks that want to be spoon-fed what to believe. Nobody wants to dig beyond even the headline of articles posted on their timelines, the headline has become many peoples only source of news! Which is why so many satire posts get removed from a certain social media..... Yeah, I know it's not factual..... That's the whole point!!!

As long as you understand the agenda people are pushing you can filter out the garbage from the facts. Always ask why are they saying this?

The other thing to remember is that if your car is broken ask a mechanic, if you are concerned about your health ask a doctor. The truth is never very far away but usually isn't the easiest to find and we all tend to be a bit lazy.

@Boudie, I'm not even speaking of JUST the Rona, if I actually try to follow the news, I go through several sources and try to find the thinly veiled similarities. Journalism used to be about staying facts, with opinions left out, unless specifically written as an opinion piece. Modern media is a joke! From both sides of the fence!

Plus, as I said, "follow government's advice" ypu whole point about the media is moot. Here, the prime ministers have daily address. The media then say all kinds of crap from that but we have government issued directives every day.

Why would they want to put people on unemployment and then push programs to pay these same people?

And again, that's without the real deaths that are occurring...

@herfdog Unlike Canada In today's political environment I am reminded of the old saying

"Do you want to listen to the people in charge or to the people that know what they are doing?"

@Dran I agree, ingesting large amounts of one opinion is dangerous. I am reminded of David Letterman's comment to Bill O'Reilly. Bill was adamant about something, hemming and hawing and finally slamming his hand down on David's desk " Come on Dave, it's easy" In classic Letterman dead pan Dave replied " Not if you're thoughtful"

I think the more educated you become about a subject the more aware you are of the nuances of the argument and the more difficult it becomes to be "certain" of a "simple" answer.

I see your point. If M. Legault (Quebec's prime minister) would come daily telling me to drink cleaner and wear uv lights, I'd likely not want to listen to him.

On Quebec's daily update we have the PM and the head of public health Horacio Aruda. I am happy of their grasp on the situation and the tone they use.
The motto they use is "ça va bien aller" (it will go well) and mainly their message is "if everyone do their part, it will be ok"

We still have massive number of cases, but timing was to blame: we had spring break here in the two weeks before calling pandemic, and a few weeks later snowbirds came back from the south.

I think most contamination originated from people boarding planes with infected people.

But I disgress... Your président don't seem to do the best job at making people follow public safety procedures.

It is sad.

Yea, Louisiana got hit so hard because not only do we have a lot of poor people living in high density neighborhoods we also had Mardi Gras right before this thing became a thing. Hundreds of thousands of people jammed together watching parades and fighting for trinkets.
