As I've gravitated to the higher proof bourbons, I thought I might mot replace some of my others when I finished a bottle. I told my GF last week that when my bottle of Eagle Rare (with one pour left) was empty, I probably wouldn't replace it. Then I drank the last pour (hadn't had it in quite a while). I forgot how delicious it is. So today....

No doubt. That along with Rowan’s, Noah’s, 4R Sb, and McKenna I just don’t want to be without. A few others as well...

I have picked up the bottle of Noah's Mill a dozen dozen times at the stores, but have yet to buy (or even try) it. One of these days....

Started last night with a pour of Buffalo Trace. While it is smooth, and I know it's the beginning element of some great bourbons, it just seems so "weak" to me. There are other sub-100 proof bourbons in the price range I like better, like Weller SR and Eagle Rare.

Decided to have pours of a couple favorite ryes to end the evening on a good (great) note.

I went to grab some carryout chow at a restaurant a few miles from my house. As is my "routine" the last few months, I took a new route back home to see if I see any new to me Mom&Pop liquor stores.

Popped into the one I found and was about to grab my first Baker's SiB (it was $49, cheapest I've seen). Then I looked behind the two Booker's Granny's Batch on the shelves and found one I didn't have,

Kentucky Chew. I've heard good things, and I bought it. But if I hadn't heard good things, I still woulda bought it, 'cause I've discovered Booker's is my jam. Hell, I read bad things about Teresa's Batch from everyone except Matt @BourbonBinder , and that's my favorite batch to date.

I've got 8 different batches now (as well as extra Teresa's & Country Ham under the bar) plus Little Book Chapter 3. While it seems like I am "collecting", I pronise that they will all be drank. (drinken? drunken? Well. "drunk" for certain. )

2017-01 Tommy’s Batch
2017-03 Front Porch Batch
2018-03 Kentucky Chew
2018-04 Kitchen Table
2019-01 Teresa’s Batch
2019-03 Country Ham
2019-04 Beaten Biscuits
2020-01 Granny’s Batch
Little Book Chapter 3

challenge accepted! I will do a side by side to confirm your findings
So have you had a chance to do a side by side of the Old Forester Rye vs Rittenhouse? I recently finished my Rittenhouse and still am decided on not replacing it, as I already have its spot filled with OF for my readily available inexpensive pour. I am however searching for a mid-bottle Rye option as my Willett Family Estate Cask Strength is definitely top shelf, and one I don’t dip into too often. It’s only sold near me twice a year at $50.

@Palama , Happy Retirement! How is that 18 proof Blanton's? Wow!

Cracked two new bottles myself last night, no good reason, I've been retired over 3 years.

How did you like the Old Ezra 7 Barrel Strength? I definitely plan on replacing my bottle. It’s not as intense or nuanced as Booker’s or ECBP but it is better then anything else in its price range ($42) that is of a higher proof.
