I actually lit up the lat rubusto from the maw before I saw this. Smoking it now. Outstanding so far. I’ll post on it later.

Interesting, I have one left but haven't smoked one in many years. I remember it having something like bread dough/toast/graham cracker flavors and being on the mild side of medium. Is that one the Behike knockoff?

L'Atelier Identité Mélange Special No. 2

This was very good, yes indeed. Wasn't as much of a fan of the more medium bodied Lat stuff back in the day, but I wanted to give them a shot now that I'm liking more medium bodied blends. Started off medium/full with a blast of chocolate, but not the baking chocolate I normally get. It was more like chocolate covered pretzels with a briney note here and there. It toned down a bit and became more medium bodied towards the 2nd third, but with complex earthy notes present, what most probably mean when they mention "leather" in reviews, and floral notes on the retrohale. This continued into the final third although the intensity ramped up a bit. Very complex, I could smoke one of these 3 or 4, maybe 8 times a week. (edit) Definitely prefer this over the behike knockoffs. (/edit) I could plunk down the cash for a box of these for sure. But then, you probably wouldn't like it. Don't bother bidding on the box up on a certain auction site right now. :cigar:

Glad you enjoyed it. Go figure, the stick from the actual MAW is better than the burn pile. If you win that auction, it would be interesting to see how the freshies compare to that 3.5 year old stick you just smoked. I enjoyed an Identite' a couple months back, but that L'At SS lancero was much better to my palate. Both incorporate the Sancti Spiritus in the wrapper, but the Identite' also has it in the binder and filler while the SS uses higher priming (and therefore darker, punchier) leaves.
My previous comment was about the regular L'At. Guess I better smoke that soon or find another wise guy.

Henry Clay

I got one of these for free recently and decided to relive some memories of shelling out 30 bucks for one of those 10-cigars-and-a-humidor deals back in the day, and smoking the predominantly Altadis/General smokes that came with the bundle in my back yard. Those were some great years. I've also been curious about Henry Clay given Pete Johnson's association with the brand, although this wasn't one of the "tattoo" marques. I figure, despite any stories in the press, it must just be Pete exploring possible avenues depending on how things develop with the FDA.

These types of smokes are the Coors Lights of the cigar world. Decent construction and nothing offputting or offensive, but nothing much else going on, and that isn't breaking news. I maybe got a faint floral note here and there with this one. I was actually pretty impressed at how void of flavor this was. Saying it was mild bodied isn't really accurate, because I've smoked plenty of mild sticks that have decent complexity. They just have a quiet voice and don't get all up in your face with that complexity. When you light something on fire and smoke it, it really should taste like something. Even Marlboros have a flavor. They must be putting a lot of effort into making these taste like nothing. Maybe Seinfeld is blending these cigars. (and for the record, I could taste the beverages that accompanied this cigar just fine, so it isn't COVID killing my taste buds. thanks for your concern.) :cigar:

And that is probably by design. These are the perfect sticks for guys who aren't really aren't into the hobby and just want something to blow smoke rings with at a bachelor party or poker night
(provided they know someone who will allow them to smoke at these events, that is.) These will do the job nicely and allow one to exhale a smoky substance into the air and project a certain look with no nasty aftertaste to harsh anyone's mellow. It goes without saying that even at this price point, there are better offerings for ppl who enjoy premium cigars, but all the same it was a nice trip down memory lane.

Body: Can you call no flavor "mild bodied?" Someone get Socrates on the horn.

The latest entry in the @srduggins burn pile series was a very tasty cigar. Most of the standard Cuban notes were present, I'd say medium bodied which got fuller with time. Draw was fairly tight initially. I recut when i started getting some cigar juice from all of the double puffing, and that fixed the draw problem. I got a major buzz from this one, which may have been the cigar, or the 90+ minute smoke time, or the cigar juice. Either way, not a "burn pile" cigar as luck would have it.

Smoking cigars is fine as long as you don't add anything else inside. Believe it or not, I had a good friend who used to add Xanax in his Cuban cigars and smoke it like it was normal. We found it funny at first, but when we realized the severe health issues it created for him, we looked for ways to unhook him from his habit. It took me a lot of time to try and convince me to stop it, and this article https://fherehab.com/learning/smoking-xanax/ helps me find all the necessary points for it me to prove to him.
