  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

I don't know if it's just me but the cigars blended under Jose "Pepin" Garcia just blow the majority of the other NC's away. It's almost like smoking a contraband cigar!

Funny thing was I was smoking a Pepin Black petty Lancero today and it carries a dbl. band that says "Cuban Classic". The way the dbl. band sits under the main band you can really only see 2 letters... cubaN Classic.

I think that it's just a subliminal reminder that you are smoking a NC.(I really doubt it but it was pretty funny)

Of my last 20 or so boxes I've purchased in the past 5-6 months, I think that Pepin's cigars took up about 20% of the total. Is that a growing trend with anyone else?

I smoked my first Don Pepin Blue Label Generosos last night...it is 6x50.

It was damn good. Probably the most enjoyable cigar I have smoked in the last few weeks...most of which have been NC.

Because of that cigar I placed this order today...

Don Pepin Garcia Serie JJ Belicoso 5 Pack
601 Series By Don Pepin Torpedo 5 Pack
Don Pepin Garcia Blue Label Imperiales 5 Pack

Got a pretty good price on them from Atlantic Cigar too.

I have three of the Cuban Classic Robustos and three Blue Label Delicias from a trade with Chuck and Ray and I split Greg's Miami 8 & 11 split.

I was too about a year ago. I just decided that I really should start smoking some of the cigars that I've been hording. The Pepin's are by far the best I have had in so many years.

There's a box or 2 of the old Tropical Tobacco Nuevitas Jibaro #1 and #2 still floating around the web. Those are really good if you can score a box.

How would you compare the black to the blue Chuck?

I loved the blue label last night.
I think the Black has more flavor and is smoother. Still a lot of strength but mor subtle like a fine cc. I am really impressed. Put down my second box to age. Guys talk to me about the 601?

Yeppers! I even indicated my recent love for these blends in my intro post. I would say Pepin/Padilla/Tat has represented at least 50% of my purchases in the last 6 months.

still a new cigar to me. had a couple tat's. very good! haven't had the pepin yet....
I was just going to ask you about that one... Did you have a chance to try the tat reserva I sent in the newbie trade yet? Like/ dislike?

I'm a fan of the Pepin black label, though I've only had but one - smooth yet full bodied and chock full of flavor - but have never had a cc, so... here's my questions:

(difficult question, I know) Could someone try to describe what makes a cc so "above and beyond" versus the (legal in the US) nc's? Also, there's so many brand labels, I'm curious to know if all cc's have some characteristic that is common to cc's yet not found in nc's?

Yeah, I'm a newbie and I'll freely admit it, but I figure I'll only learn if I ask... feel free to say what you "heard from others who live in locales where cc's are legal"...
That should keep people occupied for a bit - thanks in advance,
ZugbugPete
