• BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

I don’t have anything I see on these wish lists except for a couple of singles that I haven’t tried myself yet. Hell, I don’t even recognize some of them. I guess you guys have already smoked everything I’ve got or may consider some of the stuff I have to be dog rockets. I’m afraid to list some of them because I might have to change my user name to rocket-man. I do occasionally buy singles of decent cigars that I want to try, sometimes in pairs not to judge the smoke on one cigar alone (don’t have the $$ for boxes as I explore the vast field). I would be glad to share some of my duplicates if only someone would wish for them. POST MORE WISHES GUYS! If not, WhiteLightning suggested making up a wish list for Altercall if you don’t come up with one of your own (Angry Bill is talking hurting you!). If that’s the case, I’ll just have to get in on that action (just hope you don’t already have a zillion of what I could send you). Adam is answering my Graycliff wish so I would like to answer that with a kind gesture of my own.:guitar:

Packages were dropped off today. Along with the four for you fellows I'm sending the ultimate bomb to my brother. I got him a H.Upman 14 cigar sampler humidor and then filled the second tray of the humidor with some sticks from my stash. To go along with the humidor and cigars he got a crystal gel tube and a cutter; so he should be set when it comes to beginner cigar smoking.

I'll work on adding more to my wish list Rick. Don't worry though man. I just so happened to buy some boxes of what people ended up wishing for. With the exception of my most recent purchases no one wants what I have already. Well besides those Graycliffs and I am not entirely sure how I got them.

Edit: On first page I more than doubled my list so it's easier to grant wishes for some people.

That's the point of a wishlist, though. It need to be just that a wish list. It's seen as pretty bad form to post more than one. When you think about it, someone reached deep to answer some of your wishes only to have more pop up. I'm more an advocate of having a wishlist of stuff I don't really see around me. I know that I will eventually buy some of the ones I see in the shop, but I probably won't sample the ones that aren't there.

But that's not so straight foward when your talking about people who are learning about new cigars daily.
I agree, and am sure that most people are not putting things they see in their shop every day on their wish lists.
And if the wishes are granted, and you are granting others, back and forth, I am not sure why you would think it's poor form.
everyone seems to get and give... I don't get the sense there is a lot of unfair play going on or someone using the group somehow.
if you put out a list of goals in january, and your goals are met very quickly, there should be nothing wrong with setting more goals.
What's the difference bettween stating wishes (which don't have to be met if you think they are ridiculous ), and PIF, or trades, etc.... You start talking to more people, and hearing about more things, that sound amazing... wish list seems like a way of sharing your dreams...
and it appears the brotherhood likes helping people find there dreams and meet their goals.
it would only be poor form maybe if you are adding stuff every day...or not giving back somehow... other wise... i see nothing wrong with people meeting and setting new goals.

Was it bad form to update my list after seeing some interesting cigars that others wished for? If so, I apologize.
BTW, what’s up with the TAT’s? Are they that good that so many are wishing for them? They are one of the many I hadn’t even heard of before.

I would also like to add this. I edited my list and added more common sticks that might be found in a local shop. The reasoning behind this is because some of the brothers here don't smoke the $140+ box of cigars like some of us do. So they don't have many of the smokes appearing on the wishlists. I figured by throwing some $3-$5 sticks in my list the ones that would like to participate in the wish fulfilling can do so comfortably. I know it might sound weird that I'm making it easier for people to give but if they feel left out because no one is wishing for their sticks you have to relieve that feeling somehow and that's by asking for stuff they might have.

It all makes sense to me.

wish /wɪʃ/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[wish] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation
–verb (used with object) 1. to want; desire; long for (usually fol. by an infinitive or a clause): I wish to travel. I wish that it were morning.

In my opinion, and mine only
If you are longing for or desiring a cigar you can buy for $5.00 at the corner B&M, go buy it. Realistically this should be something you havent tried and may not get to try anytime soon. There were no real rules established to this thread so I can't see any bad form one way or the other. Seems if a person wanted to try a selection of standard cigars, they could trade for them or buy a sampler. 2 cents and all its worth.:stretchgr

I guess the reason why what I said makes so much sense to me is because I'm in Turkey and I don't have a local shop to buy from. I figured instead of buying a box or 5er I'd just wish for one.
