Yeah I get what you're saying CWS. I know that it doesn't cost hardly anything to roll some of these delectable smokes. However I still fork out hundreds of $$ for boxes of them. I guess in my mind if there's a suggested retail price I try to find it for less from a company competing to get more business. Yes granted the exclusivity of the Opus brand lends to basically asking what you want as long as there is a demand for them. Your example of Gurkhas is key in your post because as you said some of them start out REAL pricey but then are sold on Cbid for $15 a fiver.
The other thing you brought up in your post about having the gas light on brings up another point. Necessity to purchase something puts you at the mercy of said retailer of what you're trying to buy. So if I needed diesel which I did in order to drive to work I had to pay the $4 a gallon when the northeast was paying $3 or maybe less. I was at their mercy and to make it even worse there wasn't a lot of diesel pumping stations around where I was at in Florida so they really had me by the balls.
When it comes to Opus, which what this original post was about, I don't need them so I won't pay the price someone is asking if it's double retail. Well when it comes down to it I don't really need any cigars. When it comes down to it I would rather buy two 5ers of Camacho, Pepin, or Torano than buy one Opus. I'd gladly pay retail for a box of Opus or a box worth of singles if I had the $ and the desire to drop it at the time.
This thread was like a lesson in capitalism and the supply demand of marketing.
