This was my second stick of the day and being that I was off today, I did not eat very much, you will see why I say that later on.

The wrapper smelled of tobacco for the most part. And when I looked at the foot, it was plenty dark (that should have told me something). Well, I take a swig of water to help clear the palette and after cutting it, I took a pre-light draw. Nothing to write home about and perhaps, if anything, it was a little tight.

I take the torch to it, the smell was still not enticing me and it took a while to light. Once it did, we were off. The first few puffs were tight and I was not satisfied so I clipped a little more off and then the smoke just billowed out.

I took a few more pulls and the taste was nutty with some slight pepper. I sat it down while I grabbed my up of Starbucks, Verona. A few sips of it and I resumed my smoke. I thought I tasted vanilla but the guy I was smoking with thought it was caramel. Anyway, we plowed on.

The first third or so had me wishing that I had gone with my first instinct (a Tat) but, I persevered. Just past the first third I started blowing smoke through my nose and the flavor seemed to explode. The ligero kicked in and it was like the cigar said "I told you I was no punk biatchhhhhhhhhh".

The flavor turned to a very strong coffee and almost caramel and my head started to spin and I was swept up into this stick. I had to remind myself to slow down as this one had me by the short hairs.

The overall experience reminded me of my first dance with a Joya de Nicaragua, plenty tasty, rich and enjoyable. So much so that I could not enjoy the company of my friend as I was trying to drink in the beauty of this stick. At this price point I can see this making it into the weekly rotation (time permitting as it took me almost 90 minutes).

I highly recommend this one with one warning. Do it on a full stomach, for when I was done I was light-headed and jonesing for more at the same time!

Very nice review, this is one of my go to's as well. On a side note, if you have an empty stomach, get a sugar cube, can of Coke, candy bar,...sugar will help prior to your cigar

I love the lancero's, but to put California in perspective to some of you guys. The shop we herfed at this past weekend, had the lancero for $10.99 a stick. they are about $3.88 if you buy them online by the box. I know we are not the worst tobacco tax, but it is pretty brutal, when the "location" tax kicks in as well.

Nice review...

But check this out, I have had several of the Serie V and the Torpedo is the only one I sorta don't like. Somehow it was different with muted, muddy flavors as compared to the Lancero, Belicoso and Figurado. If you get the chance DO try those sizes. MUCH smoother and brighter smoke in my experience. Also heard the same of the double robusto

I'm with you, EveanS. Been through most of the vitolas and there is a fair amount of difference. I wouldn't turn down any of them, but if I have a choice, I'll grab a Belicoso or Lancero. I thought the most explosive, flavorwise, was the Beli. The Lancero is very, very good, but I tend to smoke it a little too fast - have to keep telling myself to slow down. I'm very anxious to try that Figurado - great looking cigar.

Had the double corona on the way home today. Righteous stick. I'm not usually a fan of big ring gauges (52 is about my limit) but this baby grew on me. I think I'll go buy some more, maybe the churchill extra if I can find it.

One of the shops I get them at goes for $6.18 a stick. Much more reasonable, but still high..

I think those V's kick ass, and for the price they can't be beat!

They're one of my two go-to sticks when I'm at the B&M and want to pick up some cheap sticks (the other being regular Padrons).
