Right on, taken to heart, I'll compare. Like you said about the cigars rated, some I have never heard of, but for me, there were rating on plenty of more affordable sticks in there. That is of use to me, because while I may want to fill my humi with CA's top 25 every year, that is just not in the budget.

BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE
Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

I read the 4 I do (already posted) because it gives me the overall picture about our hobby, the smokes and new accessories, info. I don't value any of their ratings, as I know they can be slanted. I use them as a tool to see if a particular smoke is within my flavor/taste range.
Well, call me the minority, but i like CA. I've not read any of the others listed, but i suspect i would enjoy them as well. Quite honestly, i think i woul denjoy any of them as i enjoy ANYTHNIG cigar related. Expensive gadgets or not...if it's cigar related, i like it and i like reading about it.
I will agree that the cigar ratings are what they are...one person's opinion. It's like all of us, some of will like things others of us will not, so in that light, all ratings are pretty much useless. I've seen them rate things at like 82 and i think they're awesome.
However, i have found that helps to hold your pinky up when reading CA.

i would like to check out that eccj.... but the thing is... is it is kinda hard justifying paying for a magazine... when i get far more enjoyment reading internet forums and talking to friends at B&Ms.

I have subscriptions to Cigar Mag, Smoke, ECCJ, and CA. CA is ok, I just have trouble relating to the "marzipan" or "chutney" flavors they claim to taste in cigars. I also picked up this new mag at my local B&M. It looks like CA junior...
