Finally! A cigar i DIDN"T like

Well, it's been a long time since i smoked a cigar i didn't like. The last one i can remember was a long, long time ago, about 7 years or so, and it was a Baccarrat. But that makes perfect sense though, doesn't it?! ANyhow, i was beginning to think my taste in cigars was flawed; i mean how can you like everything you smoke?!?!

So since i've begun taking this habit seriously since October of last year, i haven't smoked a cigar i didn't like. Sure, there were some that weren't the greatest, but i still enjoyed it. Maybe it was the atmosphere in which i smoked them...i don't know. Maybe my taste in cigars is just that good that i never smoke a bad one, i don't know. But i haven't had a cigar that i actually put down because i just didn't care for it...until Monday.

I celebrated my anniversary, which some of you know my wife totally f'ed up, with...are you ready...

a NUB Habano.

What a dissappopintment. Dissappointing because of all the great cigars i have and that little Nub got the nod. Dissppointing because it was no good.

I only made it about an inch and a half into it, which is to say, i smoked half of it. The burn was terrible, and i'm meticulous about how i light my smokes, so i know it wasn't me. I'll give it credit for having consistent flavor, but the flavor was no good. It was woody, dry and if i remember correctly, tasted a little stale. Despite all those woody and dry flavors, it was very one dimensional.

This was easily the worst cigar i've had in 7 years. I did not like it.

I had been wanting to try one of these for quite some time, what with all the hype and all, and i've come to the conclusion that they are a novelty in the world of premium cigars. My wife laughed at the appearance of the little thing...said it reminded her of a turtle's head. I said it probably looked like here ex-husband's dick. :rolling:

I didn't like the Camroon either, but the Habano is a winner IMO.

Oops! How did i do that? I had the Habano. I got that one becasue that's the one everyone says is the best of the bunch.

Sorry you had a bad experience. I would have never guessed it with the nub though. My wife and I both liked them for some time, but got kinda sick of em.. I need variety in my smokes.

The Cameroon was my favorite. Maybe you had a bad one? Although...
The last one I had (the fat torpedo) wasn't all that great...

I got over the whole big ring craze rather quick, now I preffer 46 - 48...

Ahhh who am I kidding? I'll smoke em all!

(It's funny though - as much as my wife likes the CS wrapper, she will not smoke a nub with any other men around.) Hahaha.

You know Gale I smoked a 358 based on all the hype too. I picked it up at the CI Superstore while on leave got it home and let it rest for a while. I wasn't a fan and I'm not compelled to buy any others. I would like to give the cameroon a try though because I tend to like cam wrappers.

Remember: NEVER judge a cigar based on a single stick. Cigars are made by hand out of natural materials, and they are vulnerable to environmental conditions. No matter how good a manufacturer's quality controls are, there is simply too much variation from stick to stick to view any one smoke as representative. I'd suggest that you try another one, preferably from a different batch, before forming your opinion. You may simply not like Nub Habanos, and that's fine, but you want to make that an informed decision.

Nah, with all the mixed reviews on these and me being on the negative side at this point, i've seen enough. In this case, first impressions meant everything.

However, i comletely agree with you in the case of more traditionally styled cigars. Try more than one.

You either know how to blend a stick or you don't personally I don't care for the whole Nub "philosophy" but a great marketing trick and a convenient sized smoke in these busy times.

I'm with you. For the time it takes to smoke one, i''l gladly grab a tat angeles or an Illusione MK. pretty much the same time frame for me. Hell, even a short story will do.

I too am going to write off the habano with one smoke. I will give the cameroon a try but they will have to wait. The size just felt weird to smoke in the first place. That's why I went with the 358.

I know these have been flying off the shelves around here. I'm woundering if we are just finding sticks now with less age on them as they try to keep up? I'm intrested in a year old Habano myself, and set a few back of the original release for just that reason.

I didn't hate the Habano. I just don't like cigars that big at the moment. I used to and maybe I will again, but not right now

I think the Cameroon Box Press Torp is the best of the whole line.

I too have become disheartened in the NUB Hab. Had one just recently and hated it.

I don't have that problem, there are plenty of cigars I don't care for. The nubs fit into that category!

I tend to agree with your report on any of the Nub cigars,,,I have had all of them and every single one was not my cup of tea. When they said it was the best part of the cigar,,,the sweet spot,,I thought, this is a great idea. If you like a cigar that does not change,,does not have more than one flavor from start to finish,,,a cigar that just sits there and burns like a rope then this is your cigar. If you like your cigars to have different flavors, a medley of rich and aromatic type of fillers then you will be severely disappointed if you smoke a Nub.

I would agree with the guys here- not a cigar to judge on a single stick. I would say that you probably got a dud or one that hasn't been properly cared for.

I enjoy the Connecticut the best of the bunch, Habano second. I don't necessarily think that they live up to their concept, but I would say that I very much enjoy them.
