I've noticed in the past few days that my cigars are overhumidified, even though I haven't moved the humi small igloo cooler) or otherwise changed the conditions. The beads are 70-74% RH, the humidity is usually around there but has gone up to 77.5 (digital). Unless it's significant that the number of cigars in it has decreased from around 25 to about 12. My plan was to take out about half of the beads and see how much the humidity drops.

Any other ideas?

buy the 60 or 65 % beads. I couldn't believe how much better my smokes were at a lower RH.

Also, dry out the existing beads until they are 90% white/opaque. They may have reached capacity.

Change the battery and do a calibration test on the hygrometer. Even if you think it's right switch the battery out and re-test. Check the easy stuff first, it will drive you insane with changing different factors only to find out the battery was going out.

I agree with DJustice as I thought I had problems with mine as well and when I went back to the basics of testing the equipment guess what? Plus, I did use 70% beads and that was a bit too much so settled on the 65% and now things are exactly where they need to be. Try not to overthink some problems and start always with the basics and work up. Good luck

Thanks, everyone. I didn't know until later that the hygrometer showed high, it was because the draw on the smokes was tight and some were obviously waterlogged.

I'll check out the 60-65 beads.
