  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

WTF? Moderator Approved?

I posted a trade in the trade forum and it said it would be posted once approved by a Moderator. I know I've not been on in much in the past month since I started the new job, but did I miss something new?

All threads in the trading zone are now going to be approved due to some that frequent the board just to sell smokes.

Don't fret...regulars will have no issues.

I figured there was sound reason behind it and wasn't worried for myself, I just figured I missed something. Good policy. I love this damn site, and as a matter of fact, I've pretty much abandoned my motorcycle sites for BOTL. You guys are the best. Well, DPrice is questionable :hysterica, but other than that the rest of you are top notch!

No Wade, this had been put in place just for you. None of mine have needed to be approved.

Dont take this the wrong way, your site, you can run it anyway you please, and I really enjoy this site.

But this seems a bit overboard to me, I mean I would hate to see people profiteering, but it does not seem out of hand. If a person wants to post some smokes for sale and he is not a business, or gouging who cares? Just gives us members a possible chance to pick something we may like up. It is up to us to do the legwork and make sure whoever is selling is legit.

Just curious....

MPO on the matter, to answer your post Tego: this is not a sales site, it is a community. That about answers it. There have been sites set up for almost nothing but sales. They don't tend to work out too well because people don't frequent them unless they are looking for something. This kind of site keeps a steady flow of people on the board because of all the other discussions. Think of it this way, the discussions on the board can be compared to programming on TV stations. The sales posts are the advertisements. Participating in the community is "payment" for your "advertisments". It's not a perfect example, but I think it works.

Though I do see your point.

That makes sense never really thought about it that way...

But if they are not out to make a profit, and it does not get out of hand, seems like it would benefit the community.

Though I do see your point.

I'm with you. That DPricenator is a little suspect...:waving:

As stated, regulars will have no issues. For example, we are talking about those that have been here for awhile, have 10 posts, and 9 of them are sales.

As Jason said, they have no interest in being part of this community...they are merely profiting off a free site.

Okay, this clarification really helped.
