  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

When lighting a cigar, don't forget that you're lighting a lot of tobacco at once. A handmade cigar will not light up like a cigarette or a candle. It needs work. Enthusiasts agree that using paper matches is a bad idea, since they won't stay lit long enough to completely light your cigar. Try wooden matches and let the sulphur burn off of the tip of the match before lighting. If you're using a lighter, butane is the best (odorless and tasteless) and apply it gently just below the end of the cigar. Although elegant lighters from legendary makers as Alfred Dunhill, Davidoff and S.T. Dupont are much prized, the newest development is the so-called "torch" which offers a very hot, windproof flame. Some torch lighters even provide two or three flames, ensuring a quick light and a quick need to re-fill the lighter.

A fast light is not always a good light, however. It is essential to ensure that the entire end of the cigar is lit. This is most effectively done by turning the cigar as you light it, exposing all of the end to the flame. Always remember to "turn and burn."

Just thought I'd give it a post. You never know who's out there reading! :dunno:

Did you know that there is an error in that post? I nearly skipped right over it, but a cigar will NOT light up just like a cigarette or candle.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who talks to their cigars. Haven't tried the dirty talk yet but there is that big Opus X I'm planning on being filthy dirty with in the very near future. "That's it we're going to take that nice cellaphane dress off of you and we're going to take your cap off and expose that amazing maduro skin of yours and I'm going to take my lighter and do some very hot things to you, yes I am." Wow, this is coming so easy to me. LOL
