This may sound like a stupid question, but I noticed that cigars are offered in both maduro and natural? What does this refer to and what's the difference? Sorry for the noob question, but I'm just trying to learn.
Maduro is darker, sometimes sweeter, certainly a different flavor. The maduro wrapper is fermented longer and at higher heats in order to create the darker color. I like some and some I don't. Hopefully someone will give a really good explanation to this.I know someone else will give a better/more detailed answer than I can, but it refers to the type of wrapper (or the outer leaf that is on the stick).
Flavor impact here is huge. Smae cigar in maduro compared to natural will certainly be different. Now the fun part. Go find out what you like best. This sounds pretty significant when choosing between the two especially if it impacts the flavor of the cigar.
It depends on the cigar. The wrapper is only part of the flavor, so for me the overall blend determines whether I prefer a natural or maduro version. Also, there are a lot of fake maduros out there. These fake maduros have wrappers that are dyed or cooked to simulate the appearance of a real maduro, but they don't taste the same. Here's a primer:What do most brothers go for here?
