  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

I know these are absolutely ALL the rage on clubstogie.com. To be honest, and I know this is absolutely ridiculous on my part, but I have put off trying the sticks partly because of all the hype that I would see over there - every other thread seemed to offer a discount, which would ensure that the minions would come running telling everyone else how great Taboo cigars are.

<asshole mode off>

So, are these a good cigar and, if so, which one should I try?

Only heard of 'em at CS (gave up on that board, though. Too many members and too little "brotherly" feel. Never had one, though.

I have heard of them, have not smoked one. I thought there was something going around here about them once. I do not recall what it was though.

I won some Taboo cigars on Club Stogie. They're decent, though I don't think I'd buy more at the retail price. The Twist is tasty if you like milder smokes.

If you PM me with your address, I'll send you a couple of Taboo cigars to try.

Was gifted a twist in a bday club on another site I belong too...He asked me to review it and send it to him so he could send it to the Taboo folks...From my understanding they are extremely customer oriented and thier service is top notch...(from what I hear mind ya as I have yet to purchase from them)...enjoy....On a side note...I was told that the Taboo folks appreciate honesty and want the opinions on thier cigars to be honest...so I dont think I was too biased in my review lol...len

A review of the Taboo Twist ya sent me...you can forward it to the guys at taboo or w/ever you were going to do with it lol....len

Appearance- To me (this cigar) was shoddy...seemed like it was rolled by someone like me...ie a n0ob...

Draw- very nice...lots of smoke...very easy..no neck vein bustin here...(used a punch)

Burn- Only had to touch it up once the whole cigar...The "burn" looked like it would give me fits cuz as the stick burned the wrapper looked like it was "rolling" up the cigar and not burning as say the way the VSG ya sent me...nice and even..no edges...

Ash- held very nicely...only dropped on me once cuz I jarred it when a cat jumped on me lol...about an inch to 1.5 inches..

Flavor- to me...slightly sweet...a lil grassy at times (beginning only)...very pleasant overall flavor for me...

Body- to me...mild

Construction- see appearance as well here...but overall the cigar was/had a very "solid" feel...no soft spots at all..

Overall- for me it was very good cigar...initially I was put off by the appearance (book by its cover thing maybe???)...it was very solid in terms of feel...made me think of a Nub cigar in that it seemed like there was more tobacco involved than it looked like there was overall in the cigar...It did take me a while to get it lit (walmart ronson)...the "smell" of the cigar once it was lit was pleasing as well..enuff so that the wife even commented on it..tasted good (too me)...smelled like a "barn" pre-light (wonderful too me)...Lasted me over an hour before I put it down...I have tried to seriously "nub" a cigar as some ppl do but once a cigar starts getting hot it ruins the exp. for me so I put it down after one or 2 hits once I get towards the end of the cigar...which in this case was about 1.5 inches from the end of stick...I was impressed...I will safely say that I will definitely purchase some more of these particular sticks to include in my rotation of "mild" smokes and would be interested in trying any of thier stronger sticks if they have any...thanks for the smoke Todd and tell the taboo folks ty as well....len

I like the Twist and the Special Forces Original. He does get on my nerves though when he lists his "deals" everyday. Their customer service is great thogh. :applause:

they have several different sticks now. all different wrappers and strengths. since i prefer stronger ones, i do like their special forces original. they are very good with customer service. they once sent a bundle of the wrong size i had ordered, so they quickly sent the right size and told me to keep the incorrect bundle. could see if it had just been a stick or two, but not a whole bundle.
the other nice thing is the price. when i can catch a deal that gets me a 6 x 60 cigar for less than $4.00, it allows me to get more of the higher dollar tatuajes that i love but can't afford to smoke every day.

I ordered a sampler and some other sticks from them about a month ago. They called me to tell me some of the sticks I ordered were out of stock and if I wanted to substitute. I thought that was some pretty good customer service. I have placed several other orders with them for Olivia serie V. I haven't gotten to most of the sampler, I have smoked 2 Honduran sungrown robustos and found them quite tasty. Some of the samplers are worth a try and they do run sales from time to time.

I dropped by the shop last time I was in Dallas. I had heard the guy that runs the place was great, and that they had great cigars. The owner was not there, but the guy who was there was not too great, and I left unimpressed, perhaps thats why I am unimpressed wth the cigars also, unlike others. I picked up a few sticks including a box of Taboo twist torpedos. IMHO, they are OK nothing wonderful, for 4.50 per Twist not to bad, but I will not be purchasing anymore.
