  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Nice play Mark.
I think the Tempus is pretty good, especially the Lancero.
Casa Magna is good too, but a bit over-rated, although it's at a good price point.

I think the bottom line is that they should create a better way of rating sticks at this point. I will still buy the new issue...

Along with something Padron and something that Pete did, illusione must make another appearance. It is quite amuzing though based on what ads are in the magazine and who makes the Top 25. i.e. Alec Bradley a 95 on the Tempus. I have never smoked one, based on the fact that the few I have talked to that have say they are dog rockets. It's a fun list to peruse, but I wouldn't use it as a point of reference.
I hear you, but the AB Tempus is worth every point of that 95...PM me your address, and I would be happy to send you a couple!

I couldnt agree more...I love the Tempus and would say its one of my top 10 favorite of the year.
Really? cool. I really wanted to try the Tempus but cant' find it anywhere. There is one more B&M I can check, but they don't have a huge selection.

CA's entire rating system is skewed though... If it goes from zero to 100, why is it that virtually nothing rates less than 85?

Were the Tat Frank, Black, El Tuinfudor etc. even reviewed by CA? I don't follow, but didn't think they reviewed much of the super small batch stuff. For me Frank is a must in the top 5.

CA did rate the El Triunfador...an 87. I don't think it will make the list.

I saved a .pdf of the last issue of Cigar Insider which has their year end wrap up of all the ratings they've given for 2008. It's interesting. The forum won't let me upload it, but if you PM me with ya'lls email addy, I'll email it to you.

We should compile our own list of TOP 10 cigars!!! I think this would be fun!!!
I agree :glassesgr

(NC, Obviously)

10:Carlito GOF
9: San Cristobal
8:ESG
7:Tat Frank
6:Oliva V Maduro
5:LFD Limitado III
4:Alec Bradly Tempus
3:padron 80th
2:JL Selection No. 2
1:Tat Black

It really is too bad that the Tat Black had such a small number sent out, I think it would have placed on CAs list....

I've never had an Ashton Heritage...but I'm a sucker for a good Cameroon :) I'll have to check my shop next time I'm there. Actually, I've never tried any of these 5 cigars though. Been looking for the DPG lancero for some time, Holt's had a special a while ago but it was pricey.

I haven't had the 6-9...but I thought the Ashton Heritage Puro Sol robusto was just okay not the 92 they gave it in CA.

Not too many of my faves on that list...which is kind of fortunate, I suppose. It will be a pain to find the Pepin Blue Lancero, RP Decade, and AB Tempus, but they already were. The Casa Torano and Oliva V are the only others that I expect to be able to smoke regularly, simply due to cost...

Is it just me, or are there a lot of Cubans and insanely expensive cigars on this year's list? It seems that less than 1/2 the list is even accessible to "normal" folks like me.

I agree that we should come up with our own "realistic" NC top 25 list :)

I had a couple of the RP Decade Lanceros. I found both of them young, harsh and both had major burn problems. I wouldn't return
