  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

I want to get a nice cutter. Help me please!

I keep hearing about how good the Palio's cut but I just can't get past the looks of them. I think they look relatively cheap and light. Why can't Palio put that blade in a all stainless steal model instead of a peace of plastic? Are there any other cutters worth trying besides the Xikar and Zino?

everyone seems to like the swiss army knife (SAK).....I asked about it in the Palio VS Zino VS Xikar thread, but just googled it instead. I loved my xikar before i lost it, gonna get a palio though

I have a lot of cutters, xikar punch, xikar MTX multi-tool, and the palio. I have to say I love the palio other than that I would go with the xikar multi-tool.

I thought the same thing about the palio before I was able to get my hands on it. See if someone near you have them and you can try them all out.

Palio has a metal blade, is the best for their price, and comes with a lifetime warranty. Laying them flat you can use it to lay your cigar down. Our sponsors like Cigarmony sell them for a very good price.

Yea, I will probably end up going with a Palio but I just wanted some more options. Has anyone ever asked the owner about making a stainless steal model?

Read what they are made of, it is NOT plastic. Lifetime warrenty if they break or the blade gets dull. It my personal go to cutter and if I had to choose one cutter the basic black Palio would be the one.

The Palio is NOTHING like the cheap plastic cutters that people are used to!

The Palio Cigar Cutter is NOT a standard ABS plastic, but a composite, which took a long time to develop and is proprietary. The material used allows the cutter to work the way it does, providing a shear cut. AND it's self honing, so it will stand up to years and years of use!

Out of an undying pursuit of precision and excellence, we've crafted Palio to deliver only the finest cuts for your very best cigars...time and time again. Engineered for today's connoisseur, Palio's superior design and construction make it the premiere choice in cigar preparation.

Stylishly crafted, the Palio is the ideal complement to your finest hand-rolled cigars. Crafted for the sophisticated connoisseur, the use of today's most refined cutter is a must for serious smokers....

Go to Cigarmony.com for even more details on them. The above was cut and pasted from that site.

Looks like I will be ordering a Palio through Cigar Solutions. Can't beat 35.99, free metal cigar stand and free shipping. Cigarmony didn't have the black one in stock anyway.

My friend has a lighter with a built in punch. We used that the other night, and I kinda like that. It just takes off what ya need to get smoke through the cap. Just won't work on anything with a pointy tip is all. I gotta get a decent punch cutter for myself.

Maybe someone has a recommendation for that?

Having purchased Xikar, Zino, and Palio cutters, the Palio is by far the best in my opinion. My concern with a cutter is not its appearance but how well it cuts and will it stay sharp. The Palio easily delivers the best cut, has not dulled one bit after literally thousands of cuts. I think you might be surprise by the appearance as well, I love the unique look of it plus the cigar holder functionality.

ive got a xivar that i got out of a 3 pack cohiba deal, its a pretty good cutter for being a free xivar. but if your just starting out,i would recommend something alittle cheaper, ( plus you save money to try new smokes) craftsmens bench makes a pretty darn good cutter for about 7-8 bucks. i got one when i started smoking ( 2 yrs ago) and im still using it today.

99% of my cigars are cut by a SAK, Xikar Multi-Tool or Palio. Best cut goes to the SAK, best fit in the pocket to the Multi-Tool and the Palio is still a great cutter. Buy one of these and you'll be happy and if not you can sell it here and try another one.

Donatus Sissors (Large) all SS and the best cut of any cutter I've ever owned and I own most of em twice.

When not at home I use a Palio for the reason you don't like it. It's plastic hence light.
I believe Xikar had a stainless model at one time.
