  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

What would you do???

Hey guys! I'm looking for some advice on a sensitve situation I have in my personal life First, I gave a expensive gift to a guy for his wedding. The only problem I have is he "re-gifted" this gift to a friend for his birthday! What would you do....Thanks!:eyepoke:

I voted nothing.

Of course you should take note, and give gifts accordingly from here on out.

Question for you..

Were they registered somewhere? Did you ignore their registration list and get them something YOU thought was nice?

I'm not saying what you bought wasn't a nice gift, but wedding registries were created to avoid getting 2 of the same thing, or something you just don't want or might never use.

It was his to do with as he wished after you gave it to him. Maybe he was strapped for money and had no choice. Then again I would not be giving any more expensive gifts to this person.

I voted no idea, because I'd tell myself to let it go then at some point I'd probably end up saying something, all depends how good a friend they were. And yes, they would be getting cheap gifts after that if any..

Mmmmmm, that at some point it happened to me once or twice, for me it really was resentful, i actually came up to the person that regifted and asked why. I really wasn't gonna let that slide.

no disrespect, but that sounds more like a female response.!!

personally, once you give something,it is no longer yours.

I think it depends on what you gave him...If it was a box of smokes that were a few hundred dollars then I would let it slide...if you gave the man a $6000 new Rolex then I would approach him about it and be like WTF! It all depends on your relationship...how much did it really piss you off? It if it really eating at you then I think there is a tastefull way you could discuss it with him. My 2 cents....

OK, maybe he knew that whomever he re-gifted to would really get more enjoyment out of it and appreciate it more than he would. I would be happier knowing that someone, somewhere was actually enjoying a gift that I gave rather than having it shelved somewhere collecting dust. Unless we're talking about a fruitcake here then everyone re-gifts those. Who knows, you might even get it back on your birthday!

No, this was a gift to the groom, not for the both of them. We did buy a gift for the bride and groom but it was from the both of us (my wife and I).
