  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Well, just came back from the dentist and found out that i have a couple of fractures and gotta start thinking for a date… to take out my 3rd molars.
I'd like to do it ASAP because i don't want it to ruin the rest of my vacations if i do it right before i go to NY.

So… has anyone done this before? Does it hurt a lot after?

Edited by David to summarize what it really should have said:

[Wigwam_Motel]I had nothing nice to say so David had to edit out my dumb ass comment....and David is sick of giving warnings in this situation that has been addressed numerous times.[/Wigwam_Motel]

You'll be fine. They should give you some good drugs to numb the pain. It's more an inconvenience than anything else. The worst part will be no smoking while it heals.

Yeah, you will be fine the bad pain is only the first couple days. After that the mouth heals REALLY quickly... you will be fine before you know it.

Do it as soon as you get back from New York if nothing is really bothering you right now.

you will be numbed up and they will give you meds afterward....

The worst pain, and it only happens sometimes... is dry sockets... which basically the skin does not cover the empty space and it hurts till they but some string with clove in there (yeah... string and clove takes away the pain, and fixes it I guess)
I had dry sockets, and no pain meds can keep you from feeling it... but it's not excruciating pain... it's just annoying.

you'll be ok.

It's absolutely excruciating! Words can't describe the agony. Actually, I have no clue. Good luck, hope all goes well.

It really isn't that bad. I had my wisdom teeth removed a few years back, and mine were impacted!

The only advice I have for you is to be sure to fill your prescription prior, and make sure you take the pain meds right after you have them removed before the anesthetic wears off.

Besides that it is old hat. Just plan to stay out of work/school for a couple days and enjoy the time off!

I went hunting the day after I had my impacted wisdom teeth removed. It was a bad idea because I got dry socket and that hurt pretty good. As long as you take care of it and stay on the pain meds you should be fine.

No worries, Megan. I've had all my wisdom teeth pulled (all 4 at the same time); 4 others pulled when I was a kid in need of braces; and two more since then (hold the West Virginia jokes, please). In my experience, the most annoying part is getting the first shot to numb things up. After that, it's no big deal. Your face will feel really funky as the novacaine wears off, but the pain that remains is easily handled with a vicodin or two (which the doc will undoubtedly prescribe). Plan on a milkshake for dinner the day of the procedure, and otherwise, you're good to go.
