  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

So on November 21st I will be turning 21. I am trying to figure out what smoke I should get for this special occasion. Also, what liquor should I pair with it? I was thinking maybe some Cap. Morgans or keeping it traditional with some good old JD's. Any Ideas for cigar/liquor combo?

No and no. For rum get some good Matusalem Gran Reserva (15) or Flor de Caña (12) both quite cheap and legal for the U.S., for bourbon I'll leave this open for someone with more experience. Smoke yer favorite.

When you're turning 21, does it matter what liquor it is... it's all coming right back up anyway!?! LOL :barf:

Tastes are all so different so just go with what you like... I like a good scotch and more recently, a good rum to sip on.

This man speaks the truth.

For bourbon I'd say Wild Turkey Rye (hey, close enough to bourbon) or some Makers Mark. I've heard good things about Four Roses but my favorite at the moment is Buffalo Trace - I'm not sure how easy either of these will be for you to find though.

Seems like rye whiskey is making a comeback. I just finished off a bottle of the WT Rye over here. Very nice, though I'd love to hear other rye recommendations if people have 'em.

Regarding rum, I've recently become a big fan of 10 Cane. Have you guys tried it?

It depends on if(like I did) your plan is to go out with the boys and get shitfaced then it really doesn't matter what u smoke or drink. There will be a lot of other times to have that perfect pairing! Go out and have a good time!

Happy Birthday.

If it were me I would try to find a smoke I have been wanting to try for a while. If it were today it would probably be a Cain. As for Bourbon the Woodford or knob creek is always a good choice. If you want to try something really special (if you can find it locally) try a Redbrest Irish whiskey. By far my favorite non scotch whiskey.

Personally, I would head out with the boys and have a good time, then sometime in the week, for my taste, an Añejo 46 and a glass of Zaya rum. They pair fantastically! Enjoy your birthday, you share it with my much better half!!!

Couldn't agree more. My 21st is a blur to me now... and it was just 2 years ago. I'd say, if you do go all out, bring along a smoke that you know you love. Have a good one brother.

Charles,

If you like ryes, try Old Potrero made by Anchor Steam. It's hard to come by but definitely worth it. Plus it's something like 120 proof.

Jhard,

You can't go wrong with a nice Nicaraguan. I'd go for a Padron Annversary series and pair it with some Flor de Cana. Either way, have a great time!

To be honest, one thing that I really like is Wild Turkey Honey Whiskey. I know alot of people don't like it, but it goes down quite smooth, and is a fantastic mixer. Cigar wise, i was thinking maybe a Padron anniversary? Not sure of which though. Another problem is that I am very new to the city that I live in, therefore I don't really have any friends to go out with :ballbounc
